Just wondering if anybody had any live shows recorded and the like of any Tennessean bands. If so, what do you have? It'd be cool if there was some trading going on in "the community"...

The more important question is, what you got?

What the hell is The Tennessean?

Anyway, I don't have anything yet, really. I was just wondering if there's any bootlegs out there, period, and if so, what do you have?

i think that if you dont know what the tennessean is, no one is going to want to trade bootlegs to you since youre not in tennessee region...

Well, I guess that was inevitable, considering I don't have any bootlegs to trade to begin with...but hey, if anyone feels like it, feel free to put up your list. I enjoy window shopping...

Are you looking for any bands in particular, or do you want to know about bootlegs from any bands formed in Tennessee?

Personally, I would be interested to know if any Dim Kitchen bootlegs exist.

Yeah, I mean, why would we ever want to listen to bootlegs from bands outside of Tennessee!?!

I know for a fact that this kid appreciates some of the finest Tennessee bands-- despite his lack of proximity to our fair state. So, get off his back, yo.

As far as I can remember, the only local bootlegs I have are from The Features and The Falling (AKA Black Soul Choir). The Features stuff includes shows from August 2002, April 2001 (?), and the Thunder 94 show (in 1998 I think). I acquired all of them for free from good friends who want to share the awesomeness of the Features. I'm definitely due for a new one...

Thanks, Carl. I'll make it up to you whenever I have something worth giving away. (That didn't make as much sense as it should've, did it?)

I think I've heard good things about Black Soul Choir a few months ago...I ought to check them out.

Tom Foolery: Well, any good local bands of the general independent nature. I'm not looking for anything in particular, but for the sake of listing it out, here are some of my Tennessee favorites off the top of my head...I may be forgetting a few...

The Features (Obvious choice)
Imaginary Baseball League (I know a couple of people who simply don't dig their music, but I can't see what's not to like)
Verde (Those samples on their site are just awesome)
Slack (Love 'em)
Feable Weiner (First TN band, or independent band, for that matter, that I ever heard/liked)
De Novo Dahl ("Waiting For My Friends" is all I've heard so far, but it's combination of so many diverse styles that actually works is sonically impressive and flat-out rockin')
The Luxury Liners (Didn't used to like them all too much...then I heard "It's You")
Jetpack (I know they have received a little flak at some point or another, but they're one of my favorites)
The Foxymorons (Technically 50% Texan, but hey)
Bubblegum Complex (They've been improving a lot recently)
The Velcro Stars (Only heard 3 songs but I like them all)

Etc. Zach was kind enough to send me a free demo of Mostly Robot, and they sound like they could wind up being a good band as well. I know I'm forgetting a couple bands but that's just a few that're currently on my mind.

The Foxymorons (Technically 50% Texan, but hey)
Useless Trivia: There was actually a 100% Tennessee version of that band jokingly referred to as Foxymorons East Coast (?) for a show or two and a 75% Tennessee version that opened for Superdrag once (in Texas, nonetheless).

David Dewese is a helluvan asset to Nashville power pop. And a helluva nice guy as well.

More trivia: they are actually 50% Californian now.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

my point is that it would be a hassle. not that he shouldnt want them or that we shouldnt want ones from his state.

Oh no, trust me, you don't want jack crap to do with music from my state. Perhaps I haven't searched QUITE hard enough, but from what I have looked through, Philly's got nothing in the indie scene except for pure crap. I think that as a city, we like rap too much for a good indie rock scene to flourish.

Ehm...Well, I'm not much of a rap fan myself so I don't really have any. Uh...do you have any in mind in particular or what? I could try some local record stores if you really wanted something.

Nah, don't worry about it. PM me your address and I'll give you some stuff if you cover the cost of shipping.

Sounds cool. Can I take you up on that offer in like two weeks? I know it may sound pathetic, but I can't really *afford* even shipping at the moment. I have a load of cash but every cent is going towards my label's first release. Once that's been paid for early next month I'll be free to buy stuff again, but until then I'm squeezing every penny to get that first CD out.

Geno's has the money for a big, flashy store, but Pat's tastes better I think. Plus, Pat's invented the cheesesteak, so they definitely deserve credit.
