Yeah it's supposedly on for July 28th at starwood. They're being really secretive about when tickets go on sale, though. I think it's to keep scalpers away??? They announced that tickets for the DC show were going on sale like 2 days before they did. And it's gonna be expensive. Tickets range from about 80 dollars to 40 dollars (grass seats). And, I heard that some of the dates might not be "Curisoa" dates, but just the Cure with no support acts. That would be really nice if Nashville was one of those dates, but I doubt it.
I'm looking forward to it, but I could really do without the festival thing. I don't care about any of the other bands playing at all.

i'm the opposite, actually...i like the cure and everything, but at coachella they were surprisingly awful...when they started they had a huge crowd and midway through nearly half the people had left, so it wasn't just me i don't think--maybe they're a little past their sell-by date. i'd seen them before on the wild mood swings tour and they were good then, despite bob's rocking a hockey jersey... so i don't know. mogwai are good, and i think muse are really brilliant--if you're into that rock n' roll-type stuff...well, anyway, i knew they were being kind of secretive about everything, so i was, er, curious.

I'm going for the Rapture and Interpol. If it were just the Cure, I doubt I'd shell out the money. I like them, but I'm not diehard or anything. I really wish that Thursday would not be involved in this festival.

yeah, thursday were at the coachella festival and played before belle & sebastian--we wanted to be close for b&s so we had to endure the last part of their set...it was brutal.

thursday's the only band that we're not looking forward to...

that's good news...officially, nashville is not getting passed over for once! there's a summer of good music ahead, i hope...i won't be braving the hippies at bonaroo, but i've my eye on lollapalooza in atl. in august...morrissey, the walkmen, the polyphonic spree, etc, etc...remember when lollapalooza was something you wanted to avoid?

yeah, the lineup is shockingly good...i'm not sure about seeing shows at turner field, but whatever. i saw moz once, in '97 i think...after the last album. he played 'paint a vulgar picture' and 'shoplifters of the world unite', which was nice. i used to be a huge fan, but i haven't even bothered with the new album...he should've dumped that loser backing band a long time ago, in my opinion. the polyphonic spree is amazing, though...i recommend you try not to miss them--they blew my mind when i saw them in this little place is louisville, KY. don't let the robes frighten you.

Turner Field is indeed weird but worth it for sure.

The new Morrissey album is a huge rip off. I bought the special packaging with the "DVD" which contained 1 video, about ten lame pictures of Moz and his band, and the lyrics to Irish Blood, English Heart for an extra $8. The actual packaging is awful as well.

And the robes do frighten me but I check them out.

Smee, I think the tix we got are general admission in the pit area. It's cool because the area is small (it's where the first 8 rows are) and all that. I think that's what the G4 means, I got G1. G=General admission. Kick ass!

Today and tomorrow on 102.9 the buzz, they are playing tons of Cure songs. And if you donate at least $10 to this charity they've teamed up with, you can request ANY cure song and they'll play it. They've been playing some really awesome ones today (100 years, Like Cockatoos, Sinking). Plus, with that donation you get 2 lawn tickets to the show. That's one hell of a deal, since 2 lawn tickets would normally cost about $60. GET ON IT!

Is Cooper Temple Clause any good? On all music guide they mentioned Mansun as a similar artist, and I like them ok. Of course, they also listed a contemporary gospel group called Oasis Praise. I'm guessing that was a mistake.

i talked about cooper temple clause in a previous thread somewhere but i think their most recent album is the second best album of 2004 (right after Muse's Absolution).
Their sound changes from song to song but i can definately hear Radiohead, Oasis, Muse, Postal Service, Ash, Mansun and other various good bands. I picked it up at Tower for $9.99 and i suggest if you are fan of any of that music, you should too.

oh, piss off...i'm not clairevoyant and that's not something they usually do. anyway, i didn't buy it "in advance"...what was i to do? get it at the gate? fuck that. i also thought that it would sell-out reasonably quickly given that there are seven good bands and a shit one. is it fair to punish people who actually were excited about the show? if i really gave a shit about $15-20 i would raise hell, but it's the principal of the thing that upsets me.

I like to see that there is some sort of animosity against people who don't buy their tickets the day a show opens up. Most everyone has to make bills and I for one wasn't sure that I could afford the 48.50 per ticket after all ticket master charges. A lot of the people who got tickets that day were just as excited about the show, they just weren't willing to owe their landlord money over it. But, you can look at it this way: The exorbitant fee you paid is all worth it when you can claim just how much more of a fan you are. rolleyes.gif

Maybe I'm just completely unaware, but when was the last time a rock show sold out at Starwood? If I'm buying reserved seats, I'm buying them the minute they're available. If I'm buying grass seats, I buy them a day or two before the show. I always count on 1) any show I would ever want to see not selling out in nashville and 2) most people who only care enough to buy grass seats to do so on their way in.

In this case, I didn't think it was worth the asking price, so I was on the lookout for free or discounted tickets. If you're a real fan, you started saving money a few months ago when you found out they were coming, you got all you friends together beforehand so you could sit together, and bought a block of reserved seats up close and protected from the elements. If that's the case you should pay no mind to what all us commoners in the grass paid for our tickets.

I'll piss off now.

Good thing I already bought tickets for this year!

That's my understanding. The site says 5pm and I assume that is when the second stage begins with CTC. Here's my prediction:

Cooper Temple Clause - 5:00
Mogwai - 5:30
Auf Der Maur - 6:15
Rapture - 6:45
Muse - 7:30
Interpol - 8:15
Thursday - 9:15
The Cure - 10:00-11:30

I'm going. Hopefully getting there in time to see the Rapture and find a decent spot in the grass. Very looking forward to it.

i wish i was going.... *sob*.

wait a few years for muse to tour the US, and both times i've missed them. i shelled out $50 bucks for a few tickets to the cincinnatti show in the spring and my band wound up getting a show that night. i was pissed. my friends didn't even wind up going, either.

i have had some tough luck with muse, too...i was at the cotton club when matt bellamy decided to reedit his salients with his guitar, thereby ending the show after four songs--since i was pissed i got online and bought a ticket for the st.louis show, which ended up being so impractical because of work that i ended up not going. i did see them at coachella, but that's not the same as seeing them in a club. it was great, and i'm sure they'll be wonderful again today...they said they would be making up that cotton club show sometime in august or september, but i don't see when their schedule is going to allow it. when and if they do, i'll try to let you know--i don't know how far you are from atlanta, but from nashville it's well worth the four hours to see them.

I think I'll do some looting tonight considering every single other person in town will be at this show.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

You're all about the robbing and looting lately, aren't you?
That's so NA.

at the beginning of "citizen erased", he was flailing about wildly with his guitar, and he somehow managed to smash the end of it against his lip--i couldn't see anything when it happened, but the song immediately came to a halt. they disappeared for a bit, and dominic howard came out a few minutes later and said they couldn't continue because matt had to go to the hospital. about ten minutes later, as my friend and i were dejectedly driving away from the club we drove right past an ambulance and we could see matt through the open doors of the back of it, sitting there in his usual getup, holding something to his face. we thought about stopping and going to talk to him, but we figured it wasn't the best time. it was very surreal--i've never been to a show where anyone has sustained a bodily injury, and i've been to a lot of shows. it was all the more crushing because for those few songs they sounded unbelievable--i think i was in the process of having my mind blown when the unthinkable happened.

I will be thinking of you all tonight-- having fun, listening to good music, playing "spot someone who's not wearing black"-- while I pull books from the shelves at Ingram.... and weep.

You should probably restrict the weeping to your breaks. They might frown on that.

I myself will not be wearing black, but a dark blue. I'm representin' The Features, yo!

so... not 20 minutes after leaving the computer, i got a call from a friend with an extra ticket... can't wait!!!

everything i've heard/seen of muse live has been amazing. i think i'm going to order the hullaballoo dvd from cdwow.com since it's only $16, no shipping. it says it's a non-region disc, so hopefully it'll work.

oh yeah, it was his lip, not his hand.... ow. the pics just show blood all over the place... kinda gross. the only time i've seen something like that was the features at infernobar... matt cut his finger, blood was getting all over both his guitars. a little gross, but very rock and roll.

Use the water fountain, Frugal McDougal. That's where I'll be.

weeping is restircted to 5 minutes per 10 hour shift. We may only weep during designated times.

Have fun. Bring me back a souvenir. Like a lock of Robert Smith's hair.... or the broken teeth of some emo weenie.
