Ive heard a few tracks by them, and I was wondering which album would be a good first purchase?

They're all really, really good.

I love The Decemberists.

First off I'd be tempted to go with "Her Majesty The Decemberists", as it's got a good mix of tracks on it... but equally the new one, "Picaresque" and the first one, "Castaways and Cutouts" are both great in their own way.

I'm not being much help here, am I?

Get one of them first off, to be sure that you do like 'em. I can't imagine liking one and not liking the rest.

Me too- I like Castaways best, but you may be right that Her Majesty has more variety.

I like all their stuff but Her Majesty is the one that will probably get you hooked. If you don't have much money and just wanna test them out then the 5 Song EP is a good one too.

Is anyone going to their show in N'ville in May? I know I most certainly am.

The new album is FANTASTIC! Go buy it now. I'm looking forward to seeing them in Nashville. I'm sure that's the show we're going to.

I decided to get the new one in the end, cos i heard the music on it was a bit more adventurous. It should arrive in about a week, so Ill let y'all know my thoughts on it then.

The new album is FANTASTIC!

It definately is! One of the albums of the year so far. '16 Military Wives' is a phenomenal song.
