Well, after seeing the post about Thursday 10" rapidly selling out, I bought that and Buffalohead. But my poor purse has also seen me by this week:

Erin McKeown - Grand (which my boyfriend promptly nicked from me so I've only heard it once)
b/o The Velvelettes
b/o Marvin Gaye
b/o Martha Reeves and the Vandellas

Damn HMV sale!

I bought the Whole Shebang at the Fl Oz record release show, but I'd had a copy for over a year before that.

I've been broke and therefore obtaining my music illegally lately for the most part, but I did buy a couple things at Grimey's last week:

Butterfly Boucher - Flutterby
The Features - The Way It's Meant To Be

(it should be noted that I had all of this stuff burned, but I went ahead and purchased it anyway because I try to eventually buy the stuff that I've downloaded/burned if I actually like it)
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I love the "Try Before You Buy" option that the Internet presents. How many of you use it? Do you feel guilty about it? Every time you download a song, a rock star dies of starvation.

Before I stopped using Kazaa, I would always try before I bought. I've never been satisfied with owning burned CDs so I've bought every one of them.

I use that method all the time, and ain't no rock stars starving. Currently being auditioned thanks to soulseek:

Badly Drawn Boy- One Plus One is One
Kings of Convenience- Riot on an Empty Street
The Action- Action Packed

I feel that I can trust no almost no one enough to spend $15-$20 on their recommendation. But I'll download almost anything, and, assuming it's not Metallica, will subsequently buy it if I want to keep it in rotation.

The last albums I bought were on vinyl at an antique store. They included:
The John Lennon Collection, The Graduate sountrack, The Steve Martin Brothers, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Alice's Restaurant soundtrack, The Rooftop Singers, ELO, Mothers of Invention, and many more. It was a good day for antique shopping. Not only did I get about 20 or so records, I got all kinds of other junk I don't need.

I love antique stores now after finding the Bob Newhart/Mary Tyler Moore/Valerie Harper TV Guide that I've been hunting ebay for.

And to make this relevant, the last album I bought was, um, the Chicago soundtrack and the Franz Ferdinand album before that.

The Streets -- A Grand Don't Come For Free

And might I say, it's better and better with each consecutive listen.
you're everybody's second home
always trying to get me alone
an easy way to lose it all
always there when all else fails

The last album I actually bought was 'The Beginning'.
I'm waaaay too poor to buy CD's so I have to burn whatever I can get from my friends/gnutella.

Yeah yeah, hate on me if you want. But I had to sell some DVD's last week just so I could buy a 6-pack and some gas to go to a party. I'm not about to shell out $14 for a plastic disc that will be scratched up and ruined in a month. dry.gif
You can't give up hope just because it's hopeless. That's when you have to hope even harder, and stick your fingers in your ears and go "la la laaah!"
