from the nashville rage:
"Grimey's Music will host an in-store performance by Australia's The Sleepy Jackson at 2pm Wed., Mar. 24. The Sleepy Jackson will also appear later that evening at Exit/In. Tickets to the Exit/In show are already available at Grimey's. "

i personally cant wait for the exit/in show. ive worn my sleep jackson album bare. hope some of the rest of y'all will come out to support him.

What does it sound like? I saw the dude on the cover of the Rage and, frankly, I was a little scared.

I actually read the article in the Rage and learned two things: (1) He's a Christian and (2) that picture was more hott than scary in a weird way.
That's so NA.

he sounds like a mix of george harrison and sean lennon. his mix of music is very..uh...varied. he has a few country-ish songs, some dance songs, and some dark sounding electronic songs.

his chrisitianity doesnt influence his music if that is something that turns off some of you. personally i think all of what he said in the article makes me respect the guy even more. but yeah. definately worth coming out to see him at grimeys or the exit/in.

I just received a copy of this album on Friday, and I really like it. I give it the RD stamp of approval.

I really think that you would like it, Carl.

The Sleepy Jackson has to be the worst band I've ever had the misfortune to see live. But then again, they were preceded by Hidden Cameras, so they didn't stand a chance really.

Grimeys - 6pm - March 24th (Wed) - Free - according to their website that's when it all goes down.

then

Exit/In - 9pm - $12 - same night.

I'm actually more excited for On The Speakers - the new band with Ian Schefnick from Creeper Lagoon that is opening up than I am up about anything else. Anyone else a fan?

I like the On the Speakers stuff I've heard off their website, so I need to order the EP. I loved me some Creeper and as time went on I realized it was Ian that I liked most about the band. But $12 to see them? Unfortunately I have to work pretty late tonight so... I'll probably miss it.

Everyone who missed this show did themselves a huge favor. Though I feel The Sleepy Jackson "Lovers" album was one of the best, if not the best, release of 2003, they were atrocious live. They had these long sections between songs that were just noise, feedback, mindless masturbation on the guitar, etc. At one point they introduced one these three minute shit storms as a new song. Then I began to wonder if it was a culture gap, and that maybe the Australian's are just stupid and really impressed by making senseless noise very loudly, i.e. The Vines. I felt like they could have been good, but only if they did everything exactly like I would instruct them to do. Since that ain't gonna happen, Sleepy Jackson will always suck. Worst of all, right in the middle of Lint, this idiot goes telling the rage about how he wants to be grossly famous so he can tell the world about Jesus. First of all, he can tell people about Jesus right now, and didn't say one word about Him last night. Secondly, I don't think Jesus needs this silly looking bastard out there campaigning for Him, it's Jesus he walked on water, Sleepy Jackson can't even tune his fucking guitar, and I bet if Jesus started a band they would rock everyone's face off. And if I went to see His band and told all my friends how great They were gonna be, I wouldn't be embarrassed like I was last night. I drug my friend Carter out to the show and ended up buying him tons of beer hoping he would pass out and forget that any of this ever happened. Anyway, On the Speakers was okay, but I can smoke all these motherfuckers anywhere, anytime, and De Novo Dahl and The Features would drop cock on these "indy(ustry)" chumps like they have never felt before. The Exit-In needs to start putting local openers in front of some of these "big" indy bands so we can start smokin' that ass southern style. Until next time.....
