I saw them play in Atlanta several days ago and was floored by how good they were. I can't wait until the new songs are recorded. I'm gonna go bake some cookies and watch Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I know they get knocked around a bit on here, but I personally think they are one of the most exciting bands going right now, present company excluded. Their stuff is fresh. I've always been drawn to the "wall of sound" sound and they really sit right with me. I know of only one drummer that can hang with Matt Barrick. That guy is unbelievable. They would be on the short list of dream videos to shoot.

I've only heard a few songs (including the one on ELT's mix CD c/o the first Features MB CD exchange), but I just don't get it. It seems like there's a certain amount of controlled energy they have, which is cool. It seems to peak out every once in awhile, but for the most part, it's like they're afraid to unleash it. Maybe I need to listen to more-- and see them live. I'm not sure if I've ever heard more mixed reviews about a band's live energy. I need to check it out myself.

I saw 'em live a week or 2 ago. I thought it was ok. I think I like about 50% of their songs, which is a pretty good average for me, but not enough to blow me away.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I like "The Rat" and "We've Been Had" but the rest I've heard bores me and is mildly unimpressive...but I'm skraight up dumb...

i thought the show a few weeks ago couldn't have been further from ok. it was great. i like that they opened with that string of new stuff. it made me look forward to whatever they're coming out with next that much more. i'm also thankful that they played a nice, lengthy set. it made up for the brevity of their last nashville set. god, i love the hell out of the walkmen.

also, did anyone else get that recoys record they were selling at the merch booth? it has early versions of a couple of walkmen songs. i enjoy it. of course, i pretty much like anything walkmen related, including jonathan fire*eater.

i agree with all of this.

the new stuff (as i was saying yesterday, elt) seems so much more drum-driven while the old stuff was more keyboard-driven. they are a band that actually can pull off an albeit subtle, style change and still interest me.

i thought the crowd at the show was terrible and i was embarassed for nashville for being so uncool.

god i hate talking about music.

I like The Recoys thing alright. There are songs that are cool(especially the ones that leaked into The Walkmen repertoire), but it's mainly just ok mod rock songs. I'm glad to hear there's another Jonathan Fire Eater fan.

I'm too lazy to make homemade cookies....they were just Toll House. I know a certain someone that makes an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie awesome enough to rival Great Harvest's. Cookie is a staple part of my diet.

that's it. most everyone just kind of stood and stared at them. i think i noticed the crowd response more this time because it stood out so drastically from the band's very, for lack of a better word, passionate performance. whatever. i guess you can't make people unafraid to enjoy themselves.

i only got to hear two songs from their nashville show (via havesomesoma's phone due to the fact that I was in atlanta), but they were wonderfully noisy and chaotic ("little house of savages" and their cover of "stepping stone"). i fucking love the walkmen (and jonathan fire eater). they are my favorite modern band. they make passionate and intense music. i love them and i cannot fucking wait until their new album comes out.

I imagine most people around here know my feelings on the Walkmen...that they are the best band in the world, etc etc. I went to the show in ATL with ELT. Of the the 3.5 times i've seen them, this was easily the best. The new songs are nothing short of amazing. I mean seriously, after almost all of the new songs I was like "I want to hear that again."

Unfortunately they went back to their usual hour-long set in ATL. Ya'll that saw them at the Exit/In are lucky. Though maybe its a good thing it was only an hour long because it was easily the LOUDEST show i've ever been to in my entire life.

Anyway, can't wait for the next record. And Matt Barrick is my favorite modern drummer. And I think the features need to tour with the Walkmen.
