TOPIC: Uptown Mix - Wednesday October 27th

Post 1 of 22
I got an email indicating that the lineup for the last Uptown Mix this season is going to be a doozy. Does anyone know who is slated to perform? It's a stab in the dark but the Force tells me the White Stripes might finally be revisiting Nashville (to actually play a show this time and not shop for records or mingle with geriatric albeit highly talented country musicians).

I have no idea how in touch you are with the force, somethingman. However, I would be very happy if The White Stripes were to play. I still haven't seen them live and would really like to.

bitch hog (my hamster) does that too. it's good to know he's not alone in his urination etiquette problems.

i hate surprises. i really would just like to know who it's gonna be. i have to work wednesday night. if i miss work for something like los lonely boys or the ataris, i will be super pissed. if i don't miss work for something like the white stripes or the shins, i will be super pissed. so, basically, i think that uptown mix should scrap their rather effective marketing ploy to accomodate me. it's important.

from wrlt.com

Join us as we bring in some great local Lightning Allstars for the final event of the season. BR-549, Rodney Crowell, Jonell Mosser and other surprise guests and headliners.
Of course it's dark. It's a suicide note

Key words being great local all-stars... I smell a Mike Grimes/Bobby Bare Jr . reunion... or to go out on a bigger limb... The White Animals? It seems they are playing a show relatively soon at Mercy Lounge.

Uptown Mix seems to try hard to mix similar bands. Based on the openers, I couldn't give two shits.

Here's a tip: Show up around 9:30 and stand outside until the headliners take the stage. If they happen to be a band you like, go on in and pay the $10. If they're some shitty band (more likely), walk to the Blue Bar and Rack Room, Broadway Brewhouse, or Red Door Saloon and spend your money on booze and shufflepuck or pool.

Yeah, seeing as businesses want to make money and all that, if it was someone who would draw well, it would be announced. I would think it is someone who they think would draw better if people didn't know who they were, which leads me to believe it will be a disappointment.

For instance, in wretling when there is a "mystery opponent," everyone always gets so excited that The Ultimate Warrior or someone like that is coming back, but it always turns out to be the Iron Shiek or a 400lb crackhead Jake Roberts or something and everyone is disappointed. If it was going to be the Warrior, they would go ahead and promote it so they could make more money. Wow, I'm really over-explaining this.

Long story-short, my prediction: Stroller.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

NEXT WEEK, our last event this year, we'll have
MULTIPLE WORLD-RENOWNED GUEST HEADLINERS with
BR549, Rodney Crowell and Jonell Mosser!!
This will easily be the biggest show of the year!

That's from the Uptown Mix website. I think that this is also in concert with the Music Row Democrats so I think I'm going to put my money on...

John Mellencamp!

And other Vote for Change Alumni.

With Rodney Crowell already playing, it may be The Notorious Cherry Bombs.
