These run the gamut from from very funny to very sad. Regardless, they're all very poignant whether you agree with their message or not.

I finally checked out this link. Very entertaining, occasionally moving stuff.

It scares the shit out of me, however, to think of how many people out there are convinced that the messages contained within are 100% true just because someone is clever enough to edit together a slick, melodramatic comercial of unsupported facts. (And when I say "unsupported", I'm not saying they're not true, just that support for them can not be found within the commercial).

Is there any anti-Bush material out there that isn't so trite?

I think it's hard not to be trite when you're trying to create a 30 second message that the average TV watching American can both understand & maybe empathize with. Non-trite anti-Bush material can be found at Common Dreams, The Nation, and Mother Jones (unless Todd Gitlin is the author), and, of course, Dean for America wink.gif

Speaking of Dean, did you guys see this article in this week's Nashville Scene? This was written by a guy who is, as best as I can tell from his past work, definitely liberal.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

i think we should eschew the conventional president/vice president system and get tucker carlson and james carville to run for co-president. maybe they could throw in paul begala to make it more like "war room", which i would recommend for rental.

I don't like him and never have, and I've never been able to justify that to people.

No bones about it, I like Clark of the Democrats.

It's interesting, because I've heard similar criticisms of Dean from some other people too. I think they're mostly valid & concerning points. Dean suffers from the same takes-himself-a-bit-too-seriously thing that Nader did, and this does not make one charming on TV. But, to me, I don't need to elect someone I feel like I could be best friends with. I need to elect someone who is smart, honest, and has rational & humane plans of action & follows through on them. I think Dean is that. I think Clark is, too.

I went to a Super Bowl party with Bruce Dobie once, and he seemed like way too smart of a guy to call W. "honest". Don't know where he got that idea.

Tucker and Carville would be the greatest political team ever.

as far as a choice for president, what america needs right now more than anything is someone with intelligence and who is a straight-shooter.
