TOPIC: Kerry/Edwards

any comments? Honestly I would have been happy with either him or Gephardt. I stand by my assertion that Edwards was more electable, while Gephardt would have been a better Vice President. Originally I wanted Wes Clark but as time passed I saw Edwards and Gephardt as better choices.

And a funny story, at least to me: About 3 months ago my grandparents, who are yellow-dog democrats, and I were discussing who would be Kerry's running mate. My grandmother said, in the way grandmothers say things, that her old friend in Iowa says that the vice president is going to be the governor in Iowa. And she really believed it! Now obviously back in the spring the nameless governor of Iowa seemed as likely a VP candidate as the Mayor of Nashville. I just kind of nodded my head and just figured well, she's starting to get up there in age.

But I'll be damned if in the past six weeks I didn't start hearing rumors about Tom Vilsack, governor of Iowa, as one of the top three people Kerry was considering. I was ashamed that I thought my grandma was losing touch.

Moral of the story: next time you hear your grandparents telling you things that seem half baked, give them the benefit of the doubt!!

Being a fellow Iowan, I was a bit dissappointed that Vilsack didn't get the nod. He's from my part of Iowa to boot. He's very popular there, but I know Edwards had more "brand name" with him. Vilsack is young enough that I wouldn't be surprised to see a presidential run from him in 2012, or God forbid, sooner.

Man, my grandma is right more than 90% of the time, and this after a brain injury. She still laments that she didn't vote for Nader last election- she couldn't find him on her absentee ballot. Anyway, I think Edwards is a good enough choice. He's charming, he's Southern, he at least gives an appearance about caring about the Common Man. I think his attackable weaknesses include his relative inexperience and his background as a trial lawyer. But, hell, if Dan Quayle could do it...

What about if she's telling you about a 3-foot-tall black bird watching TV in the living room? Or a waterfall covering a wall of her hospital room?

I really liked Gephardt its to bad he didnt last longer. Although Wes Clark on the other hand spent to much time informing the public of his military background it was kind of bothersome. Not that Kerry isnt guilty of it either or equally annoying things such as dazzling everyone with his snowboarding skills to gain acceptance from the younger audience. But I do suppose any of the democratic candidates would have been better than bush, yes even sharpton...maybe.....

You must choose. It is like that movie "Sofie's Choice" only it is Nathan's choice. Do you know that movie, "Sofie's Choice"? It is like that. Only it is this.

I really don't see how this has an impact on the Not Bush vote.

Or a waterfall covering a wall of her hospital room?
This could be a drug-induced hallucination. I remember one time I saw a river coursing across my ceiling after I took Dristan, so I feel like I know what she means.

Bingo. I think they were giving her morphine.

Then you'd be even more impressed to know that I first typed "morphine-induced hallucination", but wrongly guessed that people has stopped giving morphine to old folks & so changed it to "drug-induced". I owe my interest in science to you, brother, and all those days we spent playing doctor back in high school... I mean grade school.
