This news was the first thing i saw when logging on this morning, and while i sighed with a heavy heart, i wasn't surprised in the least.

In high school i tried to emulate the young Brando...quietly cocky, introspective yet confrontational at times, artistic above all else. I wore khaki pants and a tucked-in plain t-shirt everyday. I was quite an arrogant little shit...i remember bringing up "On the Waterfront" or "Guys and Dolls" in conversations at school and getting off on the fact that nobody knew who or what the hell i was talking about.

I read his book back then and I remember being feeling very sad and sorry for him. The guy was just flat-out a fucked up soul. everything surrounding him goes wrong, many times by his own doing, and he really was never able to balance happiness in both his personal and professional life. But mostly i felt sorry for him because it seemed that his life, basically after Apocalypse, was a carnival full of bizarre, shady, and sometimes downright scary characters. That he allowed himself to be surrounded by dysfunctional sycophants is a testament to his own unwitting self-destructive nature.

This is really too bad. While most would argue that his latter years were very eccentric, he really did deliver some strong performances back in the day. We've lost a true artist.

Waaaaaaaaa! No more godfather movies!!! Wait, I guess they killed him off early on in the series. This is sad news-damn he was a hottie back in the rebel days. His health had become so poor. I didn't even recognize him in that Michael Jackson video.

I rented A Streetcar Named Desire a couple of nights ago and didn't really know why. How eerie.

He died from lung complications. Sad to hear this. Wasn't he in the remake of The Island of Dr. Moreau too? All I can say as a tribute for Mr. Brando is... "STELLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAA." That's a pretty lousy thing to say as a tribute, but no one could say it like him.

fitting...and eerie...i'm a little red-faced to admit this, but i looked through his film credits and, aside from superman, i don't think i've ever seen a movie with him in it. this includes the godfather and a streetcar named desire. i've never been a big movie guy or whatever, for a variety of reasons, but it is positively sinful that i've managed to avoid seeing those films for my entire life...my only knowledge of "a streetcar..." is from sleeper, where woody allen's character thinks he's blanche dubois...

I like ASND. I'd say it's probably my favorite Brando performance, but my opinion is not worth very much, because I am also not a film person. I don't know what others of ya'll think about it, but for me the story is kind of a mindfuck, and more than a little depressing.

I've seen On the Waterfront twice, and though I keep hearing that it's a great film, I found myself really bored by it. I don't get it.

The Godfather rules, Andrew. You need to see that one.

Everyone should see "On the Waterfront." The faces in that movie are amazing.
Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.

Roadie, I see it. But you also remind me alot of late-60s/early-70s Warren Beatty.

jc you really know how to stroke my ego.

Beatty is, of course, my favorite actor of all time, a director/producer I admire, and arguably the greatest ladies man ever to walk the face of the earth.

so ya, naturally, he's a guy i'd like to remind people of.....

That is up until he got married to Annette Bening and became a pops. But he still remains a stupendous stud.

You must choose. It is like that movie "Sofie's Choice" only it is Nathan's choice. Do you know that movie, "Sofie's Choice"? It is like that. Only it is this.
