Where at, when, what about and how much?
you're everybody's second home
always trying to get me alone
an easy way to lose it all
always there when all else fails
over by the west side rails

Let me guess: they'll also be registering people to vote?

oooh, sign me up! There's nothing I'd rather do than take 2 or 3 hours out of my life to hear a bunch of propaganda right before the election. I mean, its not like the media isn't already doing it, but to voluntarily pay for it? No thanks. I'd rather spend my $7.50 on a real movie and skip the "speech".

you are correct. it's actually for people that aren't registered to vote.

Of course it is. More specifically, they will be registering people to vote, and then spending 3 hours telling them who to vote for. In reality, about 95 to 99% of people who pass through the turnstiles will have registered and made their minds up long ago. So it's really more like a rally. But it sounds alot more noble to call it a voter registration drive.

I'll definitely be watching the 10:00 news that night to see the footage of the fireworks outside the arena, because I have a feeling there might be a Republican or 50 there to "protest."

Do you really think so? Yes, I'm sure they're all siding with the not-Bush ticket, but I would guess that the sad reality is many of those hippie hipsters still haven't registered to vote out of sheer laziness.

Hell, I probably wouldn't have re-registered if it weren't for that nice lady with the clipboard who manages to find me at every show I go to (including most recently the Features/KOL show). I just hope she's waiting outside my house with the car running when election day comes around.

Anything to make registering to vote easier (*coughonlinecough*) is fine by me.

Yes. I think that anyone willing to go to a Michael Moore event is probably at least somewhat politically active, which, I think, would include being registered to vote. Of course I could be wrong.

I do believe that this event is being held AFTER the deadline for voter registration in Tennessee.

Excellent point! You're right, it's not necessarily a registration drive (although I suppose he could claim that to be the case for the earlier dates). This is from the tennessean:

"Quote"
In a recent letter from Moore announcing the tour, he stated that it is a "coast-to-coast effort to bring the non-voting majority out of hibernation and kick some political butt." He continues, "My goal is to get as many of the 100 million non-voters in America as I can to give voting a try -- just this once. I want at least 56% of all eligible voters to vote and thus set a modern-day turnout record."

Translation: "If I could get these kids to vote, we could get Bush out of office and I could proclaim myself the man who single-handedly turned this country around".

Quick question (because I'm too lazy to research it myself): When does one's voter registration expire? I registered a while back, but in my maiden name (does anybody know if that's a problem?) and just checked a few minutes ago to still see if I have my card, which I do. I think I registered 2 years ago. Is my registration still valid?

I, ashamedly, did not vote in the 2000 elections, so this will be my first time voting. I just don't want to show up and be turned down.

I am looking forward to the debate tonight. At least I think I am. I'm pretty sure it's at eight. If I was wrong and it's at seven, I'll feel dumb.

Uh, I think tonight's is too, so...thanks!

I bought tickets to the Moore thing today. I hope they're worth it as I've already seen the film. I'm just curious as to what the environment will be like in addition to seeing how big Michael is in real life.

Okay, that was totally mean and uncalled for.

I just want to see him live.

We went, and I really enjoyed it. However, 9/11 was not shown as I thought it would be. It was basically a long wait, a warm-up by a few musicians (Some guy named Monkeybowl, Steve Earle, and some recording of a song by "Honkeytonks for Truth") and then a long speech by Michael Moore. He was very entertaining, as always. I laughed a lot. Say what you will about Mike -- he knows how to work a crowd. I'm glad I went; it was energizing.

I got neither Ramen noodles nor free underwear. Bummer.

Monkeybowl opened with this song, called "Al Gore," which really cracked us up. (and that is actually Al Gore speaking at the end)

It really was an interesting experience overall.

By the way, did anybody else here go? I didn't see anyone. I did see two of my students, though, which I felt was very encouraging, given they are so young.

I finally saw Roger And Me today. Interesting stuff, even more so if you think about what he could have done with it if he was as powerful then as he is now. I haven't made up my mind how I felt about the movie, but yeah, interesting.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.
