very short memory. The President can ask his father about that one.
The economy will be the only issue in the election. The Democrats' candidate will, of course, try to make Bush's foreign policy shortcomings an issue, but no one will care. If unemployment falls to about 5%, Bush will easily win.
I don't think that Americans will quickly forget about Saddam. His questioning/trial/etc will probably be very long and drawn-out and will, needless to say, receive heavy media coverage. I think that this story will still be very much in the news late in the campaign season.
I don't think that this issue alone will get Bush re-elected, but this combined with
any degree of economic recovery (which we are already seeing signs of) most certainly will.
