man, a lot has changed since i was in high school. if you're a fourteen year-old boy, though, that's the jackpot! she is hot...i mean, for a teacher. i never had a teacher i fancied. what she did is wrong, but somehow less wrong because she's kind of hot. if that makes any sense...and because she took advantage of a boy. i have a lot more sympathy for girls...if it was some fatass gym teacher screwing around with fourteen year-old girls, i'd be outraged.

I kind of wonder how this type of thing makes national news. I'm fairly sure it happens all the time. I'm pretty sure I know of at least one small private school (I won't say which) in nashville where this very thing happened not too long ago and didn't make headlines at all.

And yeah I'd do 'er. She's hot, though I'm not 14 but even if I was . . . well, maybe just a b.j. or two.

It happened at Oakland high school in Murfreesboro this past spring, but it was a 15 year old girl and a 49 year man who has a wife and a 16 year old daughter. His stepdaughter is a very good friend of mine.

Being a teacher yourself, YDDD, I'm sure you were joking about him "fighting her off". Anytime a situation like that happens, it's really hard to separate your attraction for a person from your attraction to their position of authority. That's why there's a specific charge to such a situation beyond just statutory rape.

Of course, I've always thought age cutoffs were pretty arbitrary and, in a perfect world, these situations should be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Wow. If the judge is a guy, and if he was ever 14, this teacher will go free. Is it such a crime to fulfill a young boy's fantasy?

My first thought when I read the article was "she looks familiar"- then I realized that she lives in my region of Florida, and looks like most of the sullen & pregnant 6th-grade dropouts I encounter in my practice. So if y'all think that's hot, come on down here. Just don't be surprised if your new girlfriend is missing significant numbers of teeth and has her first three children's names tattooed on her legs.

Listen, I'm not saying that she's drop dead gorgeous or anything. I'm just saying that she is an attractive woman, and doesn't look at all like the wierdo women you usually see arrested for having sex with minors.

I must admit that I too fall into the category of thinking that this is "not as bad" as a male teacher having sex with an underage girl. I know that's a very inconsistent way to think. Maybe it's just because I used to be a 14 year old boy, so I know that for someone in his shoes, having sex with your hot 23 year old teacher is like winning the Powerball - something most only dream of. In reality, though, I do realize that this will probably have confusing and/or damaging psychological effects on the boy. But I don't know whether to feel sorry for him or give him a hi five.

Also a resident of northeast Florida, which is where she did her murders. I just saw "Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer ", and found it profoundly disturbing, maybe more so than Monster. It was such a tangled mess of people exploiting people, people changing their stories, etc. Perhaps this was because it was made by Nick Broomfield of Kurt & Courtney and Biggie & Tupac fame...

I can see the argument that it's a boy's dream to be seduced by the hot teacher. But I think it's inevitably going to confuse and/or damage him, for the reasons Carl mentioned. Fantasies are not always healthy in real life.

I agree. I can bet you that it's also the dream of many female students to be seduced by their hot male teachers (if they have them), and often those girls are much more aggressive than the boys would be.

Anyway, it's a sticky situation. I teach 14-17 year olds, and I can attest that they are complete balls of hormones (duh!). They flirt like crazy with their peers, and often their teachers, and while some of them are very attractive (not meaning to sound in any way pervy here), anyone who enters the profession of teaching should just KNOW BETTER than to go there, no matter how tempting it may be.

From what I read, she did know better.....in the police report, she told the boy that it turned her on to have sex with him because she knew it wasn't allowed.

Yuck. Well, I guess "know better" was not the best choice of words. All adults (I hope) know better.

That movie immediately came to mind when I first read about this situation. Just sub in this guy's 15 year old cousin for the girl in that movie.

Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it some more, maybe this teacher was trying to set it up like in that movie. It's been a while since I saw the movie, but didn't Nicole Kidman's character set the whole affair up just so she could eventually convince the boy to murder her husband? Maybe that's what's happening here? I mean, when it comes down to it, there are really only two reasons an attractive married woman would have an affair with a 14 year old - either she wants her husband whacked or she's just crazy in the head.

I just had a thought....maybe she's innocent. This seems like something a kid would make up, due to her alleged hottness. I think the only way it could really be proved would be DNA & if he was correct as to her hidden tattoos and pubic hair shaving pattern.

If you haven't read the police report already, do it. It's hilarious. It talks about how they start having sex while about to go under a bridge, and then after the pass the bridge, they're done.

I don't excuse any excuse. I teach 7th grade and yes, these boys and girls (the girls more so) are very sexually active, can we say blow jobs in the bathroom? But when I look at my students, I see children, not sex objects. This chick needs to be locked up.

here's my question: ladies - if you were a girl in this school, would you be more/less/equally inclined to have relations with a boy who had a publicized affair with this teacher? try to return to the frame of mind that you had as an early teen. I'm thinking that he would be blackballed in a way (not that way). am I wrong? explain.

I would tend to have the same hypothesis about our young stud's chances with the teenage ladies. They'll probably all be intimidated by him.

For eighth graders, I would imagine that it would not bring the girls. It might be a hi five thing for the boys, but I can't imagine the girls liking him because of that.

As much as people talk about kids having sex younger and girls developing earlier and all that, most people would be surprised to see how innocent things can still be for the majority in the 8th grade. (Yes, that varies in different areas)

as an early teen,
i think it would by no means "bring the girls"
but from a sexually active teen's perspective, i could see how that would be intriguing
and from a non sexually active teen's perspective, i think it would be intimidating
