TOPIC: vanderbilt shooting report on wsmv

please, please, PLEASE tell me someone else saw darian trotter's report on the 10 o'clock news on tuesday night.

he was reporting on the shooting at vanderbilt. they caught the suspects on a camera in the elevator. at one point in the report darian was narrating the suspects' actions. when one of the men looked at the camera and poured out some beer, darian decribes him as "pouring one for his homies who couldn't be there." hands down, he is my favorite reporter.

check it out at http://www.wsmv.com/ under featured videos: "surveillance video shows shooters at Vanderbilt dorm party"

I totally saw it... I was telling my wife (who used to be a TV reporter) about Trotter saying "Poured one for the homies" and she would not believe it. Beyond the crazy ass reporting, that pink on pink ensemble reminded me of a deranged Batman Villian.

For the record, the suspects were not Vanderbilt students.

In all seriousness, the current crime rate at Vanderbilt is sickening. There's a great deal of sexually-related incidences going on right now (and no, not the good kind). It really stresses me out knowing that my girlfriend has to walk long distances to her car at night to circumnavigate all the godamn neverending construction.

Apparently the crime rate is at an all time high here at College of Charleston, too. I wonder if it's a national thing...

it does seem fairly rampant. during my little sister's freshman year she woke up to some guy going through her underwear drawer at 3am (her roommate had gone out and left the door unlocked). she screamed and he ran, but who knows what could have happened. at my last university, you heard about some violent crime at least once a month and dorm burglaries were a regular. i tried to avoid walking alone at night as much as possible.
