me too.

What did the ounces play, and what did the features actually play?? I heard they had to hire people to come in and scrape the faces off the floor that had been rocked clean off.

That was, quite possibly, one of the top five Features shows I've ever seen. The amount of energy that had been building up over the 4.5 months since I last saw them erupted in a flurry of retarded dancing and screaming that almost gave me a heart attack. I swear, I love this band (but not in the gay way, unlike Keith). "Arcata" and "Hold You Alone" are so amazing that both of them should have made it to the Final Four. "Hold You Alone" is especially beautiful, that keyboard part almost brought me to tears of happiness. And "Arcata" has an extended middle with more rock-time from Matt, who was on fire last night. Walking around in circles, jumping, windmills, that boy can move.

I also have to say that the audience singing "Thursday" and "Blow It Out" because the Features did blow it out was a highlight. It was nice to hear all of our frazzled voices yelling in unison the words to songs that we've all seen performed together for the last, I don't know, long while. Great.

And come on. Any encore that gives you "Stagecoach" (which I yelled frantically for during the entire show...when I wasn't yelling for all the other songs I wanted to hear) AND "Damage Is Done" AND "Oh My Love?" What in the world? Amazing. I never, NEVER expected to hear "Damage Is Done" after the all-request show. Actually, I held back from freaking out at the first bit of "Damage is Done" because I thought, "This sounds like "Damage Is Done," but there's no way...what is this song?" The lyrics started and I freaked out.

Until someone posts an official setlist, here's what was played in a somewhat order...

Mosis Ptosis
Me & The Skirts
Dark Room
There's A Million Ways To Sing The Blues
The Way It's Meant To Be
Exhibit A
Temporary Blues
Arcata
Hold You Alone
Leave It All Behind
Two By Two
Exorcising Demons
Kari-Ann
Blow It Out **crowd on vocals**
Thursday **crowd on vocals**

AFTER STUFF GOT FIXED:
The Beginning (Week One)
See You Thru
Circus

ENCORE:
Stark White Stork Approaching
The Damage Is Done *
Stagecoach
Oh My Love

*Reworked sorta, it just stops after the guitar solo instead of going back into the first verse and chorus. Fine with this change, as long as it keeps getting played

That should be 90% right as to what part of the concert the songs were played, and I'm 99% certain that's all the songs played...and it was enough. I'm sad there was no "Harder To Ignore" since it was still going strong when I last saw them. Then again, after that set, "H2I" would have killed me a lot.

in fact, this is a list of songs they DIDn't play.
when I saw, "paid to think" up there at first I was like, "goddamn, I was not that drunk that I missed paid to think, was I?" then I realized that NO, I wasn't that drunk, jamiecarrol is playing a fun joke on me and all the others.

I love my features. some of those fans were vultures though, pushing and shoving for better spots. we're all there to have a good time, you know. I didn't enjoy being pushed around by people who think that moving up 2 inches will help their view. respect your fellow features fans. don't be a vulture.

***this has been a public service announcement paid for by the stalker on skates took a beating last nght foundation

my first time to see slack and fliud ounces. I loved both of them. I only had enough cash to buy one record and I went with slack. that woman on the tamborine . . . wow. those skills will pay the bills.

and the features were spectacular, of course. when we got there, I said, "I really want to hear 'see you through' or kari-ann'. They don't have to play both, just one would be amazing." and they played BOTH OF THEM!!!!!
it was awesome when the PA broke and everyone sang thursday and blow it out. It was ... bizzarre when the PA wasn't broken and people were singing along as well.

They seem to have gained a lot of confidence and I'm sure playing to such a devoted home crowd made them feel wonderful and play wonderfully in turn. they rock and I will never stop loving them.

p.s. matt looks so hott with his hair longer!!

Here's your real setlist:

the Exit/In - Nashville, TN
opening acts: the Fluid Ounces, Slack

Mosis Ptosis
There's a Million Ways to Sing the Blues
Darkroom
Arcata

Hold (You Alone)
Exhibit A

When the PA was restored (5-10 minutes later):
The Beginning
The Damage is Done
Stagecoach
Circus

ENCORE:
Stark White Stork Approaching ->
See You Thru
Oh My Love

*featured Chris Slack on background vocals
**the PA went down about 30 seconds into this song (and how appropriate - during "Blow It Out," they "blew it out"). All that was audible were the instruments (at a low volume). The band continued to play with the audience loudly singing the lyrics. It was like being at a Dashboard Confessional show!
^After "Blow It Out," Rollum made an announcement that the band would do "Thursday" without the PA, then take a break while the PA was repaired, then do a few more. So "Thursday" was also without PA. Also, Seth Timbs helped Parrish out on the keyboards for this song.

i was right in front of matt, and we had a good long look at the setlist...... i *think* harder to ignore might've been on it, but they didn't play it.... i would've grabbed the list but some douchebag grabbed it BEFORE THE SHOW WAS OVER... what an asshole. getting setlists at shows is cool, but at least have the decency to grab it after the band is done with it.

the only one i can remember specifically that they omitted situation gone bad... which i didn't mind, since i don't particularly care for the song.

i flipped out when they started kari-ann. they replaced something with darkroom, so it was a nice surprise.... i love that song. biggrin.gif

digs, i know what you mean... i don't think i've seen the features since the release show, and it was great to be there.

was it just me, or did matt get a fancy new ampeg flip-top amp? i don't remember seeing that before, and i drooled quite a bit.

What did the ounces play?
Brian Rogers was kind enough to hand me the setlist:
Big Deal (Out of Nothing)
Nobody Loves You (Like You Do)
Private Hell
Come On Out
Selma Lou
Fool Around
Invincible Boy
Paperweight Machine
Oh, Tatiana
Record Stack
Poet Tree

Seth was more into it than normal, but the wonderful banter was not there to help the show along. During the Features set I got to thinking about how many songs Seth Timbs writes and how much he can change up a set over a period of time as compared to the Features, who are playing essentially the same set that they were playing about 3 years ago.

Still, it was great to hear the Features again. They were really great, and now I've gotten my Features fix. It's been a while since I had seen them, and a really long time since I had enjoyed it as much as I did last night. I was/am sick, and so my voice is no gone, but I was glad I got to go.

Who are all those people at these shows, and where did they come from? I still have no idea. It was great to see so many of you last night.

Well, when you play twice as many songs in a set, you have to dig a little deep sometimes. It also doesn't help for variety when you're doing a tour designed to promote a major label release.

The crowd was completely pathetic during Slack's set. I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea, but everyone looked really annoyed while they played. It's too bad, because they're a damn good live band. I guess it would have helped if Chris wasn't a little hoarse. They still managed to put on a good show despite the lack of any crowd reaction.

The crowd also seemed to take a LOT of warming up for The Features (with the exception of the faithful to stage right). When they woke up for TWIMTB, I couldn't help but wonder if the crowd was composed primarily of first-timers who came to the show based on the strength of the singles they had heard on the radio. I guess it's cool that they can still manage to attract new fans in and around Nashville, but I was really hoping it was going to be more of a "homecoming" show rather than the next stop on the tour.

Of course, the setlist showed that they were there to play for a more familiar audience and for that, I'm sure we're all very greatful.

*Sigh* It seems that someone is a little upset that I got the set list... It's cool. Another guy got the set list on the keyboards... why don't you get mad at him? You'll probably be even more mad that I got all their autographs on the set list, but it's cool... no hard feelings.

I had a great time last night despite almost losing my hearing standing right in front of that huge speaker. Toward the end, I had to move to the back for a while just to make sure I didn't injure myself, but then that really made the show end on a down note since there wasn't nearly enough energy back there.

The Features played fantastically, with lots of energy. Matt was very animated, which rocked. I thought the Roger brigade, all decked out in green Features shirts, was very cute. Someone took Roger's setlist before the end of the show as well, but he actually handed it to her. (or is that the same person mentioned earlier?)

This was only my second time to see an entire Slack set, and I really, really enjoyed it. The other time was at the Halloween show a couple of years ago when they played a Misfits set, so it wasn't even really representative. I thoroughly enjoyed them. I know everybody else already knew they were great, but now I do too.

I couldn't really get into the Ounces, but I do envy Set Timbs and his mad piano skills.

I loved hearing the alternative version of "Temporary Blues" for the first time in forever.

It hurt my heart when Matt said they were running out of things to play, there towards the end, then played "Oh My Love"....No "Buffalo Head" or "Walk You Home"??

But yeah, so much fun.
remember that its all in your head.

Yeah, That kinda threw me off as well. They have PLENTY of GREAT songs to choose from. Sometimes I'm just not sure why they ever quit playing songs that haven't been "overplayed" i.e. "Armani Suede".

Songs that instantly come to mind:

Bring On the Night
Harold
Chemical Head
Look Out Below
Idea of Growing Old

I still had a blast, I hope to hear them again before another 8 months go by.

I forgot to mention in my first post that when I finally got back in my car, Guv'ner Nigel Canterbury, at about 1:45 am, "Blow It Out" was playing on The Buzz. Now, I can't remember what I had my radio on the Buzz, but it was great to hear them on mainstream radio after seeing them at their soldout "homecoming" show. Amazing.

I just have to ask everyone who enjoyed Slack how strong the weed was they were smoking. I mean, how could you like them? I don't care if they are "Nashville's Band." All it was was noise. That's all it comes down to. Fluid Ounces was so much better than that wanna be Blink 182 band. Those drums were right in front of my FACE! I couldn't wait for their "act" to be over. Who turns their mic upside down and sings with their head like the exorcist? The Features totally need The Directors to open for them which a certain "front man" for the band did not show up for tonights meeting. Anyway, I hope he shows up tomorrow night.

You know what's funny? I think (maybe someone can confirm or deny it?) that Slack have actually been around longer than Blink 182! So there's that. And despite how long they've been around, I don't think I've ever heard them refered to as "Nashville's Band" until now.

As far as liking them or not goes, different strokes for different folks, y'know? I personally think they have great songs and are a great band. But I can see how they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea (especially at a Features show).

Oh, and I think that that mic stand was malfunctioning and Chris was just dealing with it. I don't think he turned the mic down on purpose.

Fantastic show!!!

I had a great time at this show and all my friends who were with me had a great time, too!

All of Roger's family who came with me loved the show and were awed from beginning to end! We also loved Slack and several of us bought their CD. It would be nice if Features T-Shirts came in more of a variety of sizes, hint hint...

All the best to the Features as they depart for their latest European tour!

Best to you all,

You guys were great. It's good to personally see you again after what Brian figured was 7 or so years since the last time I saw you guys.

Slack's music was no good and I hate the punky scene. Now after that said, I absolutely enjoyed their show. Those guys were so much fun and had such great energy that I'm 100% behind them and hope they can continue on with the music they obviously enjoy.

All I can say about the Features is I love you guys, your music and everything else. Big thanks to Parrish who came through with a huge favor that turned a REAL shitty night into a great one (my wife forgot her ID out of town) I owe you at least one, probably more. The show was awesome and well worth staying up past my bedtime, because I'm an old codger that has to go to work way too early.

Thanks to everyone that played. Everyone rocked in their own way and everything was just awesome.

Now go to Europe and kick some ass.

WE had so much fun at the show, it was my first time to see The Features and it was worth every penny! Them blowing the amplifier during Blow it Out was golden. I will remember that for long time.
The crowd singing along was great, too-----I Think I was the loudest out of you all!
I'm glad that there is finally a band from Nashville that is out touring and trying to make it work. I never thought a band from Nashville would make it to the UK!! Good luck guys.
Fluid Ounces were OK. Good musiciains, though. When they put out a CD I will try to give it a spin!
All I can say about Slack is that they need to go back to teh 90s when grunge rock was cool and they would be good. But I don't know if they can keep it up with the post punk throwback rock of today like the Killers and hothotheat and Ferdinand. I'd be surprised if they ever did anything out of Nashville or put out a record.
WE can't wait till the next Features show, hopefully it will be sooner than later. Hi to everyone I met.

I didn't really enjoy Slack either.

And while the fuse blowing or whatever happened was a memory maker and it was fun to sing to Matt instead of the other way around for once, that really was a pitiful way to perform "Thursday".

I hope some of the people new to the Features get to hear it in all its glory again soon.

I had fun.

The Fluid Ounces were better than ever. As raydavies said later "damn kelly..you were really feeling the ounces!" i was. My request for Paperweight Machine was fullfilled....

Slack rocked the house. Got me jumping.

The PA blowing out was the best part of the show...i have never seen that kind of unity in a crowd. everyone sang along with immense joy and happiness...it almost brought a tear to my eye...

i was the guy who grabbed the setlist off the keyboard...sue me...
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

Why would Parrish or Roger need a setlist anyway?

slack was great. loud. loud loud loud. but great. not everybody's thing, but they can definetly rock out.

i'm glad my ears stopped ringing yesterday, i was getting worried.

i'd only heard a few songs off the newest fluid oz. record, but i really dug the whole set.

i was hoping for 33 1/3 or armani suede... idea of growing old would've been nice, too.. i can't ask for more though, kari-ann and darkroom are more than i can ask for... damn i love those songs. biggrin.gif

so, all in all, i think we can all say it was great to go to a headlining features show, it'd been awhile.

What a great show!

I was in town just for the night and lucked out by stumbling onto my new favorite band! My only disappointment is that it was all brand new to me. I wanted to be a part of y'all singing along when the mics went out.

As for Slack, I agree that Chris didn't intentionally turn the mic upside down. It fell, and he did what he could. They put on a great show, and I picked up their disc, but haven't finished wearing out my Features discs. biggrin.gif I'll break the plastic on it at some point.

I already spent last night at a party boring all my friends with talk of the show and the band, so, guys, get an L.A. show ASAP, so I can haul them all out to show them! The Whisky awaits! (Of course, so does the Staples Center if you guys keep this up!)

This was a wonderful show! It's definitely one of my favorite features shows ever.

I also liked Slack a lot. It had been quite a few years since I had seen them, but I'll try to make an effort to see them more often.

This was one of my favorite shows of the year!

This was my second time seeing Fluid Ounces and it still hasn't hit me yet. I usually love bands with that much piano or keyboard. Maybe I should try again.

Slack was pretty awesome (with a thumbs down). I shamefully had never seen them before even though I've been going to shows in Murfreesboro and Nashville for about 5 or 6 years. I thought they were great and had lots of energy and stage presence. I have had two of their songs stuck in my head all weekend. And boy can they hula hoop.

The Features set gave me a good work out. I was so excited to hear Dark Room and Oh My Love as well as the new songs. The crowd's singing during the technical difficulties is a testiment to their power as a band. I hope all the new people at the show enjoyed it and are made fans for life like me. The Features deserve all the success in the world. I will post the pictures I took soon.

it was an amazing show. it was so glorious to see them finally after so long. highpoints: mtosis ptosis, arcata, hold you alone, stagecoach!!!!!, damage is done!!!!!!!, OH MY LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldnt have asked for a better features show.......well, i guess they could have played "walk you home" and that might have turned it up to 11.....but then i may have had a heart attack and died.

What a show it was! It was so good to see The Features again, it had been a while I know for me. It was also good to play with them again, because I think it's been 7 years since the last time.
I thought the FLOZ were great. One can only dream about having the musical SKILLS that Seth Timbs has (as well as the others). We also had fun talking about Full House and downing a bottle of champagne in which I determined The Pink Spiders had left for us from the night before.
The Features were soooo on top of their game, it was ridiculous. That was by far the tightest and most dynamic that I've ever seen them. Hearing the crowd sing along was also a good feeling.
I hope they do another hometown show soon, but next time they should find a bigger place!
I must clarify that we did NOT know that woman who jumped up on stage to play the tamborine. I think her name was Cindy, though.
Thanks for all the kind words about Slack. If you didn't like us or were confused, give us another chance sometime. And someone said we were trying to be like Blink 182? You got it all wrong, we're trying to be like Superchunk.

Actually, I happened to be at The Exit/In early on in the day searching for my wallet that I thought I left there during the Pink Spiders show, and I overheard the owner ordering a couple bottles of champagne specifically for you guys (and by "you guys," I mean The Features).

And by the way, it turns out my wallet was in my room all along.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I don't really consider myself a part of "everyone", but I have at least met a few of you and I've been to enough shows to be a familiar face. My friend and I were in the center where the floor steps up. We got there kinda late and didn't want to fight our way to the front.

LORD, I've missed the Features.

I didn't realize how much until Friday.

It was such a good show, I agree with everyone on here who said they were at the top of their game. It was fantastic.

I bought tickets to see them play with Kings of Leon, but then Vagenius played instead, so I didn't get to see them.

Blowing it out during "Blow It Out" was classic. I've been on a Features high since Friday. Too bad I missed the Fluid Ounces. I didn't know they were playing and got there at the end of their set.

It made me feel 15 again, seeing the Features and Fluid Ounces on the same bill - like I was peddling Spongebath samplers in front of Bongo Java.

There were 15 year olds at the Features shows in the 90's? Damn I could have went to jail!

Of course I would have had to score with one first.

it was great to see you again. it really did feel like '95 or '96 didn't it???
TIME WARP. us, the features, fluid ounces, & the exit/in? WHOA. the only difference was now we can walk through the front door w/o having to carry some of their gear or worry about getting carded! biggrin.gif that & we are all much better looking of course. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

& what a great show. damn. totally worth the drive from Atlanta!

Nope, not that I know of. Could have, but of course at that time I was too busy changing strings, running lights and critiquing the show. There were many cool people I met back then.

Rivoli,
We are all Dead sexy now aren't we. Kind of like fine wine, better with age. And I know you were looking to score back then (and now for that matter), just not with 15 year olds.

no, i haven't met her either. haven't met most of the folks on the board since i am down here in Atlanta...just those we used to hang with back in the day & mindylieu. i think that's it. but if you saw a tall chick in stilettos with super long blonde hair jamming along with mindylieu at the April 1 show, that was me!

& back then we were way too preoccupied w/ getting ourselves in w/o getting caught, hence how we got stuck with roadie duty. that & making sure we got back in before official "doors open" after going to get dinner.
we did meet a bunch of rad folks though. no one 15 though!

Freddy baby, we are beyond dead sexy! ;P & you got me. i was & am always lookin' to score. hee! ph34r.gif laugh.gif tongue.gif but DEFINITELY not with 15 year olds. 20 is as low as i'll go these days. which cracks me up seeing as when i was 20 i had a 28 year old hit on me - in your house no less. ah, how things circle back. double hee. (& FYI, the 20 y.o. hit on me, not the other way around! though i did turn him down.)

hope to see you before as well as at the next nashville show!

Damn, that's hard. Maybe I did meet you back in the day. You might have been one of the people giving me the bird when I said the show was 18 and over and no ID, no show. If so then I apologize.

I really hate ID'ing especially after the exit/in show. Fucking Nazi's. (Of course they were doing their job so the Nazi reference is aimed at the higher ups in the club) I've heard of several people (including my wife) that were not allowed in because they didn't have ID's. We even said to just tag her as under 21 (she definitely looks over 18). No dice. Luckily we did get in to see the show. Sorry to those that didn't get in.

"There were 15 year olds at the Features shows in the 90s?"

Freddy - i was thinking the same thing (well not the REST of your post laugh.gif ) but i didn't realize there were folks younger than us smuggling themselves in too.

it was great to see you again. it really did feel like '95 or '96 didn't it???
TIME WARP. us, the features, fluid ounces, & the exit/in? WHOA. the only difference was now we can walk through the front door w/o having to carry some of their gear or worry about getting carded! biggrin.gif that & we are all much better looking of course. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

& what a great show. damn. totally worth the drive from Atlanta!
LOL, yeah, there were 15 year olds in the crowd way back when. I know, I was there. smile.gif

Us fortunate enough to live in Nashville got to see them play at all ages gigs like Dancin' In the District and things like that. I didn't do anything too illegal to get into shows underage.

But there was that one in Huntsville....

We won't go there. smile.gif

I'm assuming you guys are hitting up the show at Music Midtown. I'll be there.

If this was the same one where they opened for Sister Hazel and (damn, I forgot, but it was the band that had the hit "Jamie says turn up the radio. Jamie says turn out the light...") then I was there too.

the question we had, however... was it a deceptacon or an autobot?  i'm pretty sure it was red (red = autobots... obviously.. pssh)...
It was an Autobot logo for sure, but my buddy Zach said he was going to rub the hood to see if it was a Decepticon in disguise! I didn't see him after that...
The logo was purple, meaning decepticon.

Or wait, it may have been a purple autobot logo.

Or it might have been red and looked purple in the dark.

I don't know.

well, i'm going to assume that since we survived the night without a transformer attack, it was an autobot watching out for everybody.

Dude, using the term "gay" as an insult is so lame. Stop being such a fag.

That's it. I'm not much for lyrics, but "Name that Tune" is where I excel. Yes, memories. I remember Cowboy Mouth Sucked, that's what I remember.

They did this outdoor show in the city. It must have been some sort of festival thingy. However, They had the Features, Sister Hazel (really nice guys), and Cowboy Mouth (never met them, they stayed in their trailer the whole time.) The Features had to share the trailer with a group of ladies like the Hawaiin Tropic or Budweiser girls, I forgot which, but we all sat around and were talking and one of them would just come walking through in their bikini. Weird.

Weird? Are you some sorta homo????
(sorry, I just found it humorous to use the word homo like a redneck)

WHICH, by the way, I wish everyone on here would love everybody else, even if it means lots of homosexual behavior taking place. I am tired of old members scaring off new members and I am tired of new members getting defensive and trying to beat up everybody. I can honestly say that I like everyone on this MB, even if they have made fun of me or are "mean," because we are all very supportive fans of the features and that should count for something. Not to mention, half the time these people are "mean" they are really freakin' hilarious because THEY AREN'T SERIOUS! So lighten up, shut up and drink your beer. (and continue rocking out to the features!)*

If youre happy and you know it...

Nope, no homersexuality going on here. Well, maybe a little sensitivity, but don't let my wife know. She'd expect it all of the time then.

I knew you were cool, I second the motion about being nice. Of course I don't get offended by un-PC grammer. I know some people do, so I try not to use it. I just love everyone (not in that homersexual way though, 'cause I ain't no homo)

To end this post I would like to make fun of Mindylieu now...

I really don't have anything to make fun of you. Ummm...

This is ridiculous... Carl may have overreacted a bit, but you also have to show some respect around here, Mr. Directors. Drop it. You aren't going to win friends and influence people or even be witty at parties by rolling in here in attack mode. What the hell happened to sitting back and catching the vibe of the place. I think I was a member here for a good 3 months before I even posted. Not saying this has to be the defacto, just have a little more humility. I'm sure you're a nice guy and we're all for other's bands around here. Give some respect... get some back.

Let's get back to what this board is really about... talking about how faboo Keith is.

PS Slack rocks.

Slack rocked! Never heard those guys before, but I liked it a lot. My husaband did too. He actually liked them more than The Features. Which I don't underdstand, but to each his own. He thinks The Features are amazing, but he's a rock'n man. He wanted to get a Slack CD, but he ended up buying me a Features T-shirt instead. How sweet! rolleyes.gif I should be a good little wife and get him the Slack CD now. biggrin.gif
