TOPIC: The Boro

This was the second time I've seen the band. Last show I saw was 2 years ago and they blew me away tonight. I had to leave before it was over, but they were honestly far more incredible than anyone I've seen recently! I'm glad to hear they've got a new CD coming out too. Perhaps I'll come back for the CD release party . . . I need more music.

The band before them was okay, their last few songs were good. I just wish they had quit playing sooner so I could have seen the rest of the Features!

By the way, My apologies for such a shitty first post.

It was great seeing pretty much everyone tonight. If I didn't say bye before I left, sorry. The guilt of lying about "car troubles" so I could see the show instead of get to work on time caught up with me.

The energy was...tiring. I don't know what happened tonight, but it was insane. Insanely fun.
That's so NA.

That new song (.."i'll be your martyr, if you'll be my friend...) was really cool. This was also the first time i've ever seen Harder To Ignore or Love Is Golden live, which were both really good. I couldn't really see what was going on with Matt's guitars, did he restring one after he'd broken strings on all of them? Also, played was the new song from last night (Pack It Up?), which is pretty rad. By the way, Carl, were you wearing a Postal Service tee-shirt?

i think J. Roddy Walston and the Business are the most fitting Features opener I've ever seen. those guys are from my hometown, and I've seen them a handful of times. they have incredible energy and seemed to win most of the room over. what do you all think?

It was definitely a great show! If 11/7/03 was the greatest show of 2003, this one could very well go down as the best one of '04. For me, the highlights of the show were the rebirth of "Paid to Think" and the special guest keyboard player on "Thursday." I also thought it was great that at the end, Matt had to tell us all to leave because they weren't going to play any more.

By my count, it had been 579 days since The Features played at The Boro. I don't think I've been there since that last show. The place has been cleaned up quite a bit since then and is much nicer. They have more booths and better TV's. (Watching football on the big TV while waiting for way-too-long-of-a-name-for-me-to-remember was setting up was nice.) I couldn't help but wonder if this would be the last time The Features would be able to play a small dive like The Boro. Hopefully the record will be so huge they'll have to get a bigger place.

Yessir, that was me rocking out beside that really cute girl with the brown "cutey-pie" t-shirt. I wish you would have introduced yourself.

Good Lord, what a fun show last night! I got excited beyond belief when they played Paid to Think. That's what I'm talking about! I thought the crowd at wednesday's Polyphonic Spree show was energetic, but this topped even that. Every time I witness a show like this, the cynic in me wonders, "Is this it? Will I ever get to experience this again in such a small setting?" I really hope so.

I thought the second new song was much better than the first, but as always, I need time to let them grow on me.

Two shows two nights in a row and no "Someway, Somehow"!?! Something must be done...

Setlist, but not in order...

Mosis Ptosis
The Beginning
Walk You Home
See You Through
Oh My Love
Leave It All Behind
Exorcising Demons
Temporary Blues
Thursday
Dark Room
Circus
Me & The Skirts
Exhibit A
The Way It's Meant To Be
There's A Million Ways To Sing The Blues
Harder To Ignore
Paid To Think
Love Is Golden
**NEW SONG** Arcata
**NEW SONG** "I'll Be Your Martyr" (which is better than what I thought, "I'll be your otter")
**NEW SONG** Hold You Alone
**NEW SONG** "God Knows We Tried/Harmonica Song"

That should be it. Amazing show. I really cannot think of a better setlist, especially since it just seemed like the band was hitting us with pure rock energy throughout the show. The flow was incredible and I never got a chance to catch my breath. Definitely the best show of '04, hands down, no question. There was just something in the air, with them playing at the Boro again, the mass of people, and the buckets of sweat...it combined for the perfect rock show. I may or may not have teared up during "Paid To Think."

I really enjoyed what I saw of J. Roddy Walston and the Business. And anybody who knows me knows I am hard to impress. The name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, though.

Anyway, I hope they come back and play Nashville more often. They would be perfect for an Acklen party.

And wasn't it great to hear "oh my love"?

I'm sorry I missed this one, too. Shows at the Boro are always so special, but I was so fucked up last night, there was no way I could've driven to Murfreesboro. It was the cruise, man. It really fucked me up good. I was fine while I was on it, but ever since I've gotten off the boat, I've felt like I'm on a boat! Even right now, it feels like the room is moving. It's very surreal, and not in a good way.

i missed it, too...i was just so tired and in the end, i just didn't have the energy to make it to murfeesburo. i also knew it would be a super late night and i'll be seeing record release shows before too long anyway. hell, i'm just old and lame. i'm glad it was a good show...hopefully the upcoming shows will be similarly stellar.

I don't think I've ever had to pee as bad as I did by the end of that show. I really liked that last new song. It was good chatting with Ceeze and Cauitioner, too.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

it was actually all my own fault. i left my house at 8ish and didn't call home until 1am. i lost track of time and thought it was only 11:30 or something. anyways, for making my mom think i was dead for a few hours, i'm grounded a week.

No problem. However next time you want to do your R. Kelly impression, don't you think using Rachel would be more apropos?

Pish posh.

Rach, I'm sorry you were grounded, but look on the bright side: one week means you will be free just in time for next weekend. I still, somehow, feel a little responsible, though.

"Paid to Think" was a treasured surprise.

And, iwantelvis, you were cracking me up last night.

FABULOUS SHOW!

This show was great! I almost missed it though b/c I thought it was on a friday. I found out it was thursday when I called about 30 minutes before the features went on. I almost didn't go b/c my friends who like the features were busy, but I'm glad I did. It was by far the best show of the year and It'll be tough for the release party to top it from a musical/setlist standpoint.

I'm usually a VERY reseved concert goer often opting to sit in the back or in the balcony. However I was jumping around with all the other crazy people and I think I almost got pushed into iwantelvis there towards the end. I lost my wallet in all the excitement and luckily someone turned it in w/all the cash. Props to people in general for being so nice- I'm sure it was a features fan. It amazes me how anyone can still dislike the Features or even be apathetic about them after seeing a show. I was thrilled. It was nice to see matt smiling so much, you could tell he was having a blast! It's been a while since I've seen the band having that much fun doing a show.

I caught the last part of J Rody again. Whoever else said they are a perfect opener for the Features is 100% right. I'm not big on their cd however.

Awesome, Awesome show! I was so excited to hear Temp. Blues, Paid to Think, Oh my Love...I really like the harmonica song, but I can't get enough of the Parrish keys song!!!!! reow those keys are sexy!!!!!! This was the first time I had seen them play the boro and boy was it crazy!!!! I have never feared for my life at a features show before. I was literally having to lean back over a table to dance because the crowd was pushing me. Glad everyone had a good time! I know I did!!!!!

The show was fantastic. "Paid to Think" was definitely the best part of the night for me. I was so surprised and happy. "Oh My Love" was also a very nice treat. The onslaught of rock goodness at the beginning of the show was almost too much to take. It was quite amazing. I cannot wait for the CD release shows.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?
