I personally think this may be a terible Idea .I don't think it looks good at all.I will go see it to give it a try but i have a bad feeling about this .Why did they feel a need to remake this anyway .Thats like remaking the Graduate ,they got it right the first time. Two thumbs down .Click Here For the Willy Wonka Trailer

When I saw it this morning on Windows Media Player it was buffering all wrong and I was left with the impression that it was a total flop.
Now, I think it will be mildly successful, but not be a very good movie. It looks goofy. I don't think Johnny Depp and slapstick belong together.
And I was incredibly excited about it when I first heard the news.

also, people who are against remakes on the basis of "they got it right the first time" get no credit.

It looks pretty cool, but I still think they blew it by casting Johnny Depp.

Who would you have chosen for the role of Willy Wonka?

I heard they were considering Chistopher Walken...I'd have liked that.

Honorable mention:
Burt Reynolds: *smacking wonka gum* "yeah, she's a sweet ride the Wonka mobile." Dom DeLuise as an Oompa Loompa.
Samuel Jackson: I'd like to see him sing "Pure Imagination"

pure hilarity and total awesomeness.

the scene near the end where he scolds charlie would be so much better with a couple of "motherfucker"s added in.

"you think wonka's a bitch???"

I am looking forward to this remake. I can only quote the original so many times.
Whatever happened to Peter Ostrum? (Charlie from the original)

From IMDB.com:
"Quote"
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) was his only film appearance. He later went on to become a veterinarian.

Has two children, Helenka and Leif.

Was offered a five picture contract after Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), but turned it down.

Is a vet to large farm animals (cows and horses) in rural New York state.

Both Denise Nickerson and Julie Dawn Cole admit that they had crushes on him during the time they made "Willy Wonka" together.

Came in first place among males age 40-49 at the Lake Placid Half Marathon in 2001.

I TOTALLY AGREE!

i was under the impression that it wasnt a remake of the movie, but rather a different interpretation of the book. i realize that its basically the same thing.

Well the book is different than the original movie. Maybe the two movies will be so different they are uncomparable.

I'm extremely excited about it. I can't remember any time I've looked this forward to a movie, actually. The trailer would be much better if it didn't have that song playing in it.

My only complaint is that Johnny's hair should look crazier than that.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

i am assuming he is talking about the end of the trailer when they sing "willy wonka here he is!!!" (or whatever they sing) and he throws his arms up like "tada!" to show the factory. he has a big pair of scissors in his hand. very good eye herman.

I agree. Gene Wilder's hair was crucial to the character, I believe.

Yes, but to an extreme extent. Burton made certain to find a screenwriter that had NEVER seen the original, and had ony read the book. He didn't see the film until Burton was finally satisfied with his script. His thoughts of the original film?

"God, that's a really sadistic and dark interpretation of the book."
