Total bullshit. Especially the losses of Foundation's Cracked, Don't Lie to Me, and Hey Lou. Damn you gas-huffing Features kids!

I'm always a little disappointed to see Treehouse Club go down in round 1 (and it always does). I chalk up Don't Lie To Me not making it far because it isn't recorded and people haven't heard it. It's an awesome song. Ditto Burma. And come on, Jakob...Hey Lou isn't a good song. Let it go.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I wasn't near a computer so I wasn't able to vote... Had I been, we'd have 5 ties.

I was thrilled to see "Concrete" make such a quick exit (sorry Digsy)

"Hey Lou" is sufficiently awesome for what it stands for alone. But I actually happen to think it's a great song all by itself. Definitely doesn't fit in with the rest of the Features' material stylistically, but I love all the live and studio versions I have (Features, Fluid Ounces, Self...). Doesn't have much by way of melody, but the energy is definitely unparalleled by anything else in the Features' catalogue, and I've always found the lyrics to be so bizarre and intriguing. I wish I could hear more of the stuff Sam Baker wrote...

I think you're one of about three people posting here that cares what it stands for.

I love "Don't Lie to Me," but I couldn't vote for it over Hold You Alone, my favorite new song since the Mike Mahaffey benfit. Burma's biggest detractor is that it was never finished. I would like to see it re-worked and added into the current stuff.

I know. I'm fighting the good fight. :)

How was "Burma" never finished? It seemed to have pretty complete lyrics, at least as much as some other Features songs ("Winded," "Could Have Been"). And can anyone tell me how it came to be known as "Burma"? Did Matt announce it as such at a show? I've always just assumed that since it was a fan favorite, some bootlegger dubbed it that because it reminded him of Mission of Burma or something.

At the show where we voted on the setlist, he said something to the effect that it never had complete lyrics and that "Burma" was its working title.

People voted for it as "Burma." (see "The Officially Official Setlist Vote" thread)

The song was first referenced on this board by jamiecarroll in her concert review for the 12/7/2001 show. (see the "12-07-01 Boro Setlist" thread) Since that was so close to the beginning of the message board, I believe it was already in the rotation when this thing started up.

A month later, known insider smee stated that the title of this song is, in fact, "Burma." (see the "Track List suggestions for next album?" thread)

Lastly, I will commend YDDD for his superior memory. When Matt Pelham introduced "Burma" at the 11/7/2003 show, he said, "...this next song has never had any lyrics... or a title for that matter so its had this sort of make-shift title of 'Burma.'"

The 11/7/2003 show is the only recording I have of Burma so the intro is practically part of the song as far as I'm concerned. I noticed today as I listened to my mp3 player that I can tell what track is playing based on the drum or guitar "tuning sounds" before each song begins.

We have 16 votes so far. The next person who votes will (temporarily) break four ties, so every vote counts!

Once again, I sent myself a ballot before looking at any of the other votes in the event that an even number of people vote.

With 30 minutes to go, we have 20 voters. Unless I get another ballot, we'll have to resort to using carligula's ballot to break any ties. And no one wants that.
