Yay! Sweetness.
Exorcising Demons is one of my favorite songs. Now I won't have to buy a record player and go on a vinyl safari to find it. ph34r.gif

You can't give up hope just because it's hopeless. That's when you have to hope even harder, and stick your fingers in your ears and go "la la laaah!"

Thank you, Brian. Between this and the news about Girlie Action and the bio, it's been an exciting day for Features news.

Thank you! This is great!

That thought has crossed my mind over the past few days . . . as crazy as that sounds. I'm sure Mosis Ptosis will be on there, as well as Look Out Below. Maybe a few revamped older songs? Chemical Head? Who knows... why won't the management keep us updated! biggrin.gif

The idea of a release party sounds like a good idea, although I'm sure 90% of the people on here will have heard the album before it is "officially" released. However, the formality of it all would be nice.

Indeed, and let me mention again that I SHARE Daiglemas. What I actually meant was a plane ticket, as I doubt the show would be in Jacksonville.

If there IS indeed a release party you can count on me comin' home (maybe via chicago). That is assuming that the party would be held in nashtown or the closer extremeties ( I might even travel as far as Sparta). I guess I have a strange facsination with brianeno2 and all things nostalgic on this messageboard. So Im wondering what the stipulation of his return was (guessing that it had somthing to do with our Features releasing a record) and ultimately, what caused him to leave? Did he think that the Features would only elevate their status of relevence with the releasing of a record?
Whatever, I guess its Irrelevent. Cheers to Exhibit A, and Cheers to Roger and Rollum and Parrsh and Matt! The hits just keep on comin! Cant wait for album #2.

I think a release party in Sparta is an excellent idea if the band wants to limit it to its more loyal/diehard fans. If they were going for numbers (which I'm assuming they would) Nashville would make the most sense.

I'm all for a road trip to Sparta.

all the better! they probably have barns in sparta, though...i say find a nice barn and turn the mutha out. that may be even a bit too indie for the indiest of indie kids...ok, so it's a sentimental idea, but where else are you going to have it? i'm sick to death of 12th and porter...mercy lounge, anyone? maybe the exit/in? hell, i think i would prefer a barn or a dried-up creek bed to another trip to 12th and porter, honestly.

I have no beef with 12th & P. I would guess Exit/In since it is the release of a major label album. Or Inferno if they wanted to peep it real in Murfreesboro.

All I can say is that Eno will return.

Why did he leave? Man, that's been so long ago. Well, he had reached the status of "Advanced Member" with his 250th post, so I guess he felt that there was nothing left to achieve. Plus, I think he just wanted to be free from the chains of addiction that bind all of us to this place.

it's less about 12th and porter being crap and more about variety...it's the features @ 12th and porter every fucking time. there's nothing wrong with the place itself, it's just so very boring that every time i go and see a band it's there...maybe nashville doesn't have enough good mid-size venues, but they do have more than one. of this i'm fairly certain. just once, wouldn't it be nice to go see a band in a place with something resembling atmosphere...i always feel like i'm in some fucking warehouse, as if we, as indie rock fans, have been pushed into some dingy corner of the city to do our thing. in this respect, seeing the features play in a dry creek bed would be a welcome alternative to seeing them play 12th and porter yet again.

How about Bluesboro? I've yet to walk inside so I'm not sure if it would hold more or less than Inferno, but I've heard the atmosphere is really cool.

Blue Sky Court has some sort of curse on it (I think from the ravers that used to O.D. on the owners bed up stairs when it was still the 8th Day, I'm told that he took "advantage" of a good many of them in their helpless state.) Anyhow, the idea of BSC is a good one, its nice to choose for yourslef whether you hear a band inside or outside. But truly, for some reason (cursed or not) it sucks from every angle.

I'd like to see a quality soundstage erected (stop giggling) on the east side of the parthenon, and while the sun is setting on that 0% humidy afternoon in nashville, have the Features rock after having an open-bar listen to Exhibit A somewhere inside the parthenon (I've never been inside but for some reason I imagine it having great acoustics). This is my Features wet dream. Also I'd hope that by september somebody would invent a sound system that doesn't sound like shit outside. Come to think of it maybe its just riverfront that sounds horrible, I seem to remember seeing a show or two outside, somewhere, sometime, that didnt sound bad. I could be mistaken though.

How many acres, how many barns, and how many creeks do you want?
This would not be a problem at all!!!
Yet I dont think the band would go for it.
And yes outside shows usually do sound like crap, but I don't think any
of the venues mentioned on this post have won any awards for good sound either!!haha
Who cares about the sound? You'll have the album to take care of that.
I pic good atmosphere for this event!!Out side in the country would rock!!

They have manservants in the bathrooms.

Bluesboro's alright, but there's not much room to dance. People don't really go there to listen to music. They go there to sit at tables, get drunk, and shark on Sorostitutes. wink.gif

Ha- I was thinking about that, actually. Guess you'll have to find one that's less slack-ass. I just found out what "hummer" meant about a year or two ago- I'm out of touch with the hip slang.

First of all, I never expected you to describe any idea as "gay-wad."

Secondly, rock on! It's a great idea! Maybe Token will finally let me wear that white tux I've been eyeing for so long.

Sept. 16 - Chattanooga - Rhythm and Brews
This will be an official CD Release show. Tickets are $10 AND include a copy of the full length "Exhibit A." So if you plan on buying the CD AND going to the show, here's a great chance to do it all at once, all for the low price of $10!

I was going to comment on the CD release party being in Chattanooga, but then I saw the indefinite article "an." And I realized that it's what this thread has been talking about for a while.

Not to mention smoke-free, comfortable temperature, excellent acoustics, sweet lighting, massive stage (not altogether a plus), and cheap soda. It's a geek's dream come true.

Complain all you want about not being able to get drunk off your ass with the over 21ers in a small, smoky club, but I'm as excited as hell about this one. I'm sure all the other true fans are, too.

I just need to know to whom I'll be giving my CD, considering I will be buying it at midnight on monday.

I've waited many years to plan this event, and I suppose the time has finally come.

How many of you would be interested in getting together that night at midnight at Tower (or Media Play, which does the same thing) to buy our beloved band's first full-length album? We might even be able to include some sort of eating or drinking activity with the event, but I don't want to press my luck until I find out if any of you are interested.

I might make the trek to Nashville for the event. I was planning on going to the one in Chattanooga, but the show at Rocketown looks to be a lot "more funner." Plus it's only an hour more to drive. This is sure to be an exciting, adrenaline-filled night for the features AND the fans. I can't wait.

I like the idea. Just remember that rockettown will not let you in if they can tell that you've been drinking at all.

I personally can't wait for this album now that I know it'll be coming out soon. The show tonight really has me wishing I had been following this band closer as of late. Nonetheless it'll be sweet to have some good music to listen to. There are great things ahead for the band and I can see them getting a huge following rather quickly if they keep this up.

As for the Nelly comments? Who gives a shit if he's putting out a double album at the same time, that only doubles the chance there's song with intelligent lyrics somewhere in the mix. I don't see his trash keeping anyone from checking out The Features cd. He sucks and needs speech therapy in a very bad way. I guess I can be Stop's least favorite new message board member now that I've obviously dissed his favorite rap artist.

For the record, I was being 100% sarcastic. I always do that. I'm a jerk like that.

As for being Stopforme's least favorite member, it's going to take a lot more than that to top me.

Hey dude- lay off rachel & direct your scorn at me- it was my geeky idea in the first place. And I think I labeled it as gay-wad from the beginning. That doesn't mean it's not fun. If anything deserves to be treated like a red-carpet event, it's the night that I've been waiting for for 4 years (enough fo/urs?), that others have probably been waiting for for twice as long as I have. Ah, but now I remember that you don't have a brain. Carl could snag you a top-quality pre-sliced mouse one if you want.

I've been waiting forever for this to happen (cd release, not the "prom"). And while dressing up in formal attire in a hot, sweaty environment isn't really my idea of fun, who cares if other people want to? I guess it may seem a bit immature to someone who is new here, but hang around a while before judging everyone and you'll see that 85% of the people who post here are really cool/nice people.

Anyway, the reason I was posting is to see if anyone has seen the album art. I was looking for the merch. table at the boro and couldn't find it. I remember carl saying that some of the artwork was at the previous show's table. I still haven't been able to find any info about the release anywhere but here.

AACCKK!!! I have tried sooooooooo hard to keep the cover art a secret because I want something to be a surprise when the new cd comes out...and now I am constantly averting my eyes. I was so pissed at the Uptown Mix show when I accidentally saw it (after having people cover the pic in magazines so I could read reviews) I didn't focus on the art, but I saw enough to spoil it for me. I went up to the merch table and looked down then almost threw the table over when I realized what I had just looked at. arrrgghhh!!!! so anyways, I haven't seen it on the board yet and if you decide to put it up please warn me!!!!!! thanks smile.gif

The funny thing is that by the end of the day I posted that, there was 4 users sharing Exhibit A. At first, I assumed they were getting it from each other, but upon closer inspection I realized that one user had mp3s encoded at 160kbps, two had files at 192kbps and one had files that weren't even mp3 but in RealAudio format. This means that the album leaked from at least three different sources. I guess someone really liked their advance copies.

It isn't uncommon for the cds of "new" artists to be sold at reduced prices. I guess the record companies assume the lower price will assuage the average consumer's fear of purchasing an album that they've only heard one or two tracks from.

Wasn't Universal trying to lower their CD prices anyways? Maybe they're pushing it more on new artists or something. Get the little bands out for less.

I heard all their CDs would retail for $12.98. I'm used to seeing 8.99 and 9.99 new artists at Tower, but always assumed the list price was still $13-$15.

I just paid $17 for the new Mike Watt yesterday. I've waited for it for 6 years now, so I thought it was a fair price. Ditto for the Features.

I work at the electronics department at a Wal-Mart, so I spend a pretty good amount of time going trough CD's for the heck of it. A lot of times I'll see a CD for $13.88 and it looks like a good CD, but not worth $13.88, so I hardly ever get CD's. Unless I really want the CD or if there's two, I'll hardly pay over $12 for a CD.

So, uh, will The Features be touring to support this album? I would think that might help promote it, but I obviously didn't learn much getting my music business degree seeing as how I'm back in school now. Anyway, I've not seen nor heard anything about a tour. BrianW? You? Carl?

Do you by any chance know why? I really hate to complain, but is it really that big of a deal to inlcude some lyrics.

Don't know, never asked why. But they aren't in there. There is a nice shot of Parrish and Roger leading a dromedaries to water though...

Some songwriters don't like the idea of their lyrics being printed out, and want people to interpret them on an individual basis. Like Ed Vedder for example. And some songwriters aren't really singing any lyrics at all. Like Mike Stipe on Murmur, for example.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

That thought crossed my mind. I know its been discussed to death, but I really don't think there are lyrics to the mysterious line in Circus. In all honesty, that was the only reason I wanted there to be lyrics on the album. Perhaps they'll release a sing-a-long some day and all will be solved.
