TOPIC: There's a million ways to sing the blues

I was very pleasantly surprised to hear The Features' new single on BBC 6music today!

Anyway, I've had a look at the 6music website, and they've been added to the B-list straight away. You can vote to add The Features to the A-list.... please, do it for ME, if only so I can hear it everyday until it's released!!

You know what? I needed some music to accompany my hellish paper grading yesterday and decided to listen to Steve Lamacq's (did I spell that right) show out of the blue and heard it too. It made me feel that perhaps the Features are already getting played all the time over there. I guess I'm wrong. I'll vote!

This is great, I really like the harmonies, and I'm glad this one is going on the album. It's one of my favorite Features tunes. The Lamaq shows really do put out a nice mix of good music, some of which I surely intend to check out/buy. Listening to the three-hour program is great by itself, with a little Features mixed in to spice it up.

Nothing to do with The Features (really), but I noticed Andrew Bird on the "listen again" section. He did a tour recently with Clem Snide, someone else worth noting, and if anyone forgot, he toured with The Features in '02.

Looked like The Features were doing pretty well in the poll considering the competiton. I was interested to see Nashville's The Bees on that poll too.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

No, The Bees aren't from Nashville. There must be a few bands with that name. Well, I could be wrong, but I presumed it was the British band who released Minha Menina a few years ago... although their new single sounds very different to that.

Check it out Here, The Features made the A-List in a week. I'm not sure how popular radio 6 is or whatever, but this can only be a good thing! Of course the real indicator they've made it big is when they are findable on kazza or Weird Al transforms a song into a parody.

Well done everyone wink.gif

BBC 6music isn't a 'big' station, because it's a digital/internet station. But it is national, and if an indie song is a big hit on 6music, it stands more chance of being played on BBC Radio 2, which is the biggest station in Britain. This has happened with Franz Ferdinand and Dogs Die in Hot Cars for example... and some DJs on 6music are also DJs on Radio 2. We'll have to see what happens smile.gif

They certainly seem to be gathering momentum though. biggrin.gif

Yay Features!

It's looking good at the moment, and I hope the song stays on the A-List for ages, and they can have a hit single, and get on Top of the Pops or CD:UK or something that will propel them to superstardom!

I'm SOOO looking forwards to the gig at the 100 Club in London in a couple of weeks time.

Do you have Target there? Interesting. When I was in Canada a few months ago, my relatives were talking about how they drive 2 hours across the border just to go that lovely store.

Beware of the Finchley Road CHUDS. You have been warned.
hmm, ill try. any tips on how to avoid a street that leads to the tube?
You'll be on Finchley Road. There is no way to avoid it. I don't know anything about these CHUDs of which Craig T. Nelson speaks.
The CHUDS live under the Finchley Road Tube station. They only come out at night after the tube closes.
