Having watched North Carolina beat Duke yesterday in exciting fashion (thank God), I started thinking about march madness and the BIG tournament. Yes that's right, The Features NCAA tournament. I hope JC decides to do this again, because it stood out to me as a wonderful idea at the time, and I can't wait to fill out my bracket this year. Scintillating, sensational, spectacular!

Not only that, once the Features brackets are made available a message board pool will also be available. Fill out and mail in with a small amount of money (not yet determined) and when the tournament is finished there will be prizes given. If intersted please make suggestions.....

Between the contributions to juvenile delinquency (i.e. rachel1808), the promotion of underage drinking, and now illegal gambling, I'd say this message board is experiencing a serious moral decline.

I'm glad I'm a part of it!!!

Last year around this time, in a move that re-defined the board in its post-BrianEno2 slump, jamiecarroll hosted the Features NCAA tournament. Ceeze was asking if there would be a 2nd year of it, and we all hope it's true.

Can "Circus" win again against this year's new crop of songs, including "Someway, Somehow" and "Buffalo Head", as well as the songs with which we've all become much more familiar? We'll see.

Right now, the Features songs are gearing up for their respective conference tournaments. Well, except for "Willy and the Willigers," which is in the midst of a scandal involving its coach and some Western Union receipts. "Willy" announced at a press conference today that it will not accept any bids for post-season tournament play, while it deals with the scandal.

Otherwise, you can look for the seedings sometime Sunday night.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

If the pool gets off the ground I'll need an odds maker, interested roadie? maybe Keith?

odds should go to last year's results and any new year tracks that are currently in rotation. perhaps wiyum has some sort of formula to use in figuring this out.

Carligula is very excited about this. Leave it All behind was robbed last year, but I think this year may be different...

I'll agree with elt on his comment made last year about growing up in Indiana. It took going to college in southern Indiana to spark my interest in March Madness. However, I'm still not a fan of "college hoops" as it's called so cleverly on sports news programs.

Leave It All Behind last year was too young a song, but now the potential of the young team has moved into maturity, and I think we'll see a stronger showing this year.

I was so surprised by last year's results ("Oh My Love" at #2??????????) that I won't make an official prediction.

Last year's tournament showed me how differently the other fans view the Features and their music. As I think back, I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised to learn that others don't like the same songs that I do. Oh well... maybe I'll learn even more this year.

I'm picking Circus for back-to-back, but look for a strong show from the rebounding veteran "Serious." The upstart "Way It's Meant To Be" could go deep into March as well. It's "upset city" baby!

True, I've been surprised to find out what many people like that never has gotten me, and vice versa. Who knew you all liked "Dark Room"? (obviously, all of you did, since you all like it)

At any rate, it will be interesting.

wow, what a good athletic season for the tennessee board of regents. etsu is headed for the big dance for the first time in what i've read is quite some time; granted, i've never attended an etsu sporting event. i guess it's time to jump on that ole bandwagon.

oh, and as far as this tourney goes, i'm pulling for "someway, somehow" as a sentimental pick. carl's knows what i'm talking about. however, if money is wagered, i might make my choices a little wiser.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to see that, my money's on something to which people will actually rock out on a regular basis.
