It was in the same thread as the discussion about whether girls would rather date assholes or nice guys. And I think that discussion was initiated by some young fellow who had recently been dumped. I can't remember who, though.

Yeah, that "could care less" stuff is BS. Somebody probably just screwed up and said "could" instead of "couldn't" and it spread from there.
