Posting on a band's message board is not celebrity worship.
address the entire issue, keith. it's sweet as cherry pie that you want to defend your friend but let's be for real.
watching the emmy's once a year is no more celebrity obsessive than doing what everyone does here. coming here everyday and saying that you don't care what they do when they're not onstage is a false statement. if you beg to differ, i'd be glad to hear you argue your point of view.

Being friends with them on myspace certainly isn't, unless all three of the main participants in this argument worship me, because you're all "friends" with The Privates.
i'm myspace friends with the privates because i worship dev.

(particularly this one where the band is rarely even mentioned)

This has become entirely too personal. As the "diplomat" of this message board (that was a joke), I know to a certain extent a good 75% or more of the people who regularly post here. I've noticed how different their internet personalities are from their real personalities, and it bothers me that their "characters" can carry over to the way they are perceived in real life. Stopforme, gasp, is not a bitch in real life, but frankly, if I only knew her from this board, I'd probably think she was too. Carl is not a fanboy, or whatever he is perceived to be on this board in real life. RayDavies isn't just a music snob or whatever I pegged him as at first. And Andrew is one of the smartest, friendliest people I know, he just won't bullshit with you if he doesn't like something, and I think that's great. He and stopforme have a lot in common in that way.
you forgot to mention that i'm not a bitch in real life!

This post isn't about "can't we all just get along," because fuck, that would be boring. I just get a little tired of defending my friends to people because they are perceived in a certain way by people who only know them from the internet.
it's nothing personal. and i don't care if it were carl that said maccauley culkin 'isn't really a celebrity,' i would've said he was fucking stupid. period. i wouldn't weasel my way around my disagreeing with the statement just because he's my friend.

Real life friendships have been lost because of arguments over avatars. AVATARS!!!
it had nothing to do with avatars.

I really think that stopforme and andrew would get along if they met under different circumstances.
though she is very nice, i disagree with this statement.

I just think that these petty arguments are taken too seriously and it can bother me when people that I genuinely like think that they hate each other over stupid shit. I'll step off my soapbox now so you can proceed in attacking me.
i thought i might be included in this statement, but then i read the 'i genuinely like' part.
but for the record, just in case someone hasn't read one of the 3641651 times i've stated this on this message board:
i do not take anything here seriously. i don't get upset, my day doesn't get ruined, no stress. nothing.
she's just another ho that i met in the hood
i told her i was crunchy black and it was all good
