i made a poll once about star wars, and duh, everyone picked empire. the same would have gone for this poll but with the white stripes, so, i just left them out bc duh. they're the best.

haha, it makes me happy to see that you left off the white stripes because of their obvious superiority. but i'd venture to say say that not everyone shares our enthusiastic love for them (even in comparison to these other bands). but yeah, i voted for the strokes. i love them and think they are wonderful. and i don't really care much that some other people don't think they are. i listen to "is this it" all the time, along with any demos and live versions i can get my hands on. so, that's my vote.

I voted for The Strokes, of course. Everyone here knows of my love for them, I'm sure. I love them much more than The White Stripes, actually, even though I do love The White Stripes, too. I could go on forever expressing my love for them, but I will not. And, I also do not care what anybody else says about them.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

I love when these discussions come up...

I've never heard any of these four bands.

the vines are bullshit.

the hives are good, but a little too trite after a while.

The strokes are my lovers.

The 7" with New York City Cops on it is great.

looks like us strokes fans might have a while longer to wait on that new album. i thought this might happen. i guess sometimes it just doesn't work out. but who knows, maybe things will go faster with raphael in the studio? i hope so.

I voted for the Strokes even though I like the Hives equally if not more. The Hives present a much more rollicking live show and more energy, but the Strokes have a nice all around package, which gives them the edge. I still love the Hives.

I voted for The Strokes. I am by no means a huge fan of any of these bands, but if I had to pick which one I liked the most it would be The Strokes. I've kinda missed out on all the craziness surrounding all of these bands (White Stripes, etc...), not because I am too cool. Not by any means, I think I just never gave them my full attention.

Looks like you should have left off the Strokes, sweetheart.

I voted for the Hives. I think they're the ones I like best. I don't actually own anything by any of these bands because I really don't think they have any staying power. I'm coming around on the White Stripes, though. I think they're the real deal.

If it came down to seeing either the Strokes or the Hives in concert, I would chose the Hives hands-down.

Yes. The Strokes show at 328 is what turned me off of them for a long time. The Hives would be very fun to see, especially in a club setting.

from what ive heard of them, the vines dont seem like they should even be in the same catagory as the others. i like thier music but it seems like they were only grouped with the others because they were a rock band that came out at the same time as the hives and have "the" in thier name. but i mean, if heard very little of thier music other then "get free".

The Vines
Intresting, but has only 2% of it actually has to do with the Vines.

Yall were a lot more protective of the board back then. I've noticed if anyone started a thread in the wrong section or had something personal to do with thier post yall would FLIP. If the little damon/ray davies thing happened now I am sure someone would comment on it but I doubt half of a three page thread would be devoted to it.

Drivel kinda rhymes with graval.. I thought of a graval.. then wondered if that was the right word.. so much useless stuff goes on in my head in only a second.

Anyways, now its bothering me.

Messageboard Riddelin.. seriously somebody hook me up.

The Strokes show at 328 will be one of my favorite days EVER for a very long time, probably. I loved them before the show, but after I was obsessed. I thought the show was simply amazing, as was every other Strokes show I've attended. I have never experienced any other show as intense and invigorating as the past Strokes shows I've been to. Personally, I would rather see The Strokes over the other bands any day. No matter what anybody says, I think they're amazing performers.

I would love to see The White Stripes and The Hives, too.

The Vines can go vomit on themselves.

I once saw some promise for the Vines when I downloaded some of their demos over a year ago, but then their album came out and well...it eats a bag of dicks. The Strokes, White Stripes and Hives are excellent, though the Hives first couple of albums are total shit for the most part.

I was hesitant about including the vines. their music is clearly not up to par with the likes of the stripes, but i would venture to say that i categorize them together as...hmmm, lets see... they did play a role in the "new rock and roll revolution" and they've got kind of a minimalistic old skool vibe kickin'. its like, just becasue they suck doesn't mean the music can't be classified in the same genre.

i'll go out on a limb here. green day (particularly the earlier stuff) is classified as punk rock (the 2nd generation punk rock, clearly). they suck, but their music carries with it punk rock elements. same goes for screeching weasel, except they're a lot cooler than green day.

I picked the Strokes. I'm not crazy about 'em, but the Vines are total bullshit and the Hives are a cartoon. The Strokes at least have good, catchy songs which sets them above even the sanctified White Stripes in my book. The Stripes have one thing. It gets old. All of their albums have a couple of good songs and a lot of filler. I just don't get it. Meg's a hot lollipop though. (wink, wink, etcetera) tongue.gif

It's okay neuboy. Though I generally prefer boys from "capably-played instrumental" bands, Fabrizio Moretti is one hot scoop of gelato.

i voted the hives.

i was on the guest list for the strokes 328 show (i know their manager's brother) but i didn't go. i was having 24 hour morning sickness. i can still get into any of their shows, but i haven't really cared to do so.
