Sometime's I'm thinking that I love you, but I know it's only lust.

Please allow a previous 'lurker' to handle this one. They (i.e. the frequent forum posters) talked about this band a few topics down. Here's a link for convenience.

I'm sorry I am illiterate... you should have seen the shit I went through to actually type that. Good job getting away from the whole lurker thing though

this is apparently not the same "the hives" topic that i started not so long ago, but oh well. the accents remind me of the scorpions. silly europeans.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

I discovered the Hives on April 1 (I still have the receipt) and, like the UK album title, they have become my new favourite band. Veni Vidi Vicious is awesome. It is the most rocking album that I have heard in a while and I wouldn't be surprised if I hold that album on the same pedastal that I have placed Oasis' MOrning Glory on (the albums that changed my musical world). The Hives are cool. And not 'cool' cool....they are just cool.

Now England's going nuts for The Vines. Lots of The bands out there.

i'm confused, are we discussing the hives or the vines here?

the vines: i saw the debuting of their video on mtv. they were immediately labeled as sounding like nirvana meets the beatles. and the rest is history.

the hives: the bassplaying moustache is just too great.

i think brianw just brought the vines up. he's right. they are big in england. pesonally, from what i have heard of them, they are laughable.

I first saw the Vines video while i was in Floribama (Gulf Shores) and it was followed by "Hate To Say I Told You So" by the Hives. I plan on buying the Vines' CD when it comes out. They seem like snotty Australians and I like rock stars with attitude (either crazy or shy).

You may like grandma's yard gnomes, but I've seen Rock City. Remember it.

you're right. it's to be expected. lock liam in a room with any of today's pop stars, and i guarantee nobody comes out alive.

and oasis-hives connection: the hives are on poptones records, which is run by alan mcgee- the very man who signed oasis to creation records way back when. also, when asked, the hives said that they would pick oasis over blur...

i've only heard the "get free" single form the vines, but i'll probably buy the album and i can't really judge till then. i enjoy the hives. veni vidi vicous is great. barely legal is significantly more punk, but enjoyable when you're in that kind of mood. i'd take the white stripes over them any day though.

Oh the eternal debate, "hives or white stripes"? In my O, the two are too different to compare. The White Stripes are bloody awesome but I lean more to the Hives just becauset he Hives rock harder (wow, I just sounded like a system of a down fan). They are both awesome though. "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" and "Your Southern Can Is Mine" are classics.

actually, one of the oasis brothers recorded some stuff with courtney love not too long ago. aside from their clothes being messed up, they both made (it) out fine.
she's just another ho that i met in the hood
i told her i was crunchy black and it was all good

liam did some stuff with her a few years ago, but he was probably wise not to mess with her... i'd hate for him to end as kurt did...

aside from her and maybe henry rollins, i still say nobody would make it out alive.
