TOPIC: The Mix Tape (or CD) Exchange v.3.0
Posted  Friday, December 9, 2005 at 10:50 AM
Post 1 of 38
Okay, due to semi-popular demand, I have taken it upon myself to facilitate the 3rd round of the Features Messageboard Mix Tape/CD Exchange first conceptualized by the universally beloved JamieCarroll.

If you're not familiar with the custom, this is a wonderful introduction. (Ignore the part about contacting JC!)

Although not mandatory, I would suggest a "Best of 2005" CD/Tape. Please PM me (no e-mails, please) by December 23rd at 8am with the following information:

-username
-full postal address (which will only be seen by myself and the individual providing your mix)
-preference for making a CD OR Tape (you'll get the same media you give)

On or around Dec 23rd, I will PM all of you back to let you know for whom you will be making a CD/Tape. Unless anyone objects, unlike previous rounds I will keep anonymous the user who will be making a CD/Tape for you. YOU WILL NOT GET A MIX FROM THE PERSON FOR WHOM YOU MAKE A MIX.

By the way, this round I will do my best to crack down on those lame enough to not make a mix as promised in a timely fashion. Sometime in late January, I'll announce who hasn't made a mix yet so we can all openly ridicule you and sympathize for the poor soul that you've thusfar neglected.

With a week and a half until the deadline, we have 9 participants thus far (we had 27 last time). If you want to participate, go ahead and shoot me a PM.

Don't forget to let me know if you want a CD or Cassette.

Okay, last call. Get those requests in by 8am tomorrow (friday the 23rd).

We have 10 participants thus far. I believe all have requested CDs (although one requested either CD or cassette).

I don't think that was the plan. If you absolutely have to know and you ask CarlW nicely, though, he'll probably tell you. He's a pretty nice guy.

Or, you can ask the person who drew you to just post it or PM you.

the last time I "participated" in this event, I made a KICK ASS CD for someone, PMed them about it and never got their address, so I was never able to share it. What's more, I never received my mix either.
it's a great idea in theory, but does it really work?
thank you for being a friend.

I just finished mine and am about to mail it off...

serah, one thing I hate about using iTunes to burn is that there is always a small gap between tracks, even if you set the "between track" to 00:00. I used Roxio's Jam software to compile my CD, it comes bundled with Toast and allows you to totally control the crossfades and layout of the CD, so that it can sound very fluid. I then saved it as a disc image and burned it with Toast. If you have those programs, I recommend that!

Cheers

i'm still working on mine. the lack of a "who's got who" list has made me late. anonymity is an excuse for laziness, i guess. way to go, carl!

Pretty soon I'll post more information on who owes who a mix.

Okay, sorry it took me so long to follow up on this. According to the above posts, the following exchanges have been made. Kudos for being model citizens:

Smee --> Digsy
Carligula --> HaveSomeSoma
YaDaDaDa --> Krisan
Digsy --> YaDaDaDa
Plong --> carligula

Based on the thread, these are the exchanges I assume have been made or are in transit:

Krisan --> Serah
Have Some Soma --> Radio One

Unless those who received have not spoken up, these are the exchanges that have not been made. If you're on the left side of this list and haven't sent your mix, you should be ashamed of yourself! Do it! Now! If you're on the right side and have recieved a mix, let us know!

Ray Davies --> Plong
Exliontamer --> Ray Davies
Serah --> Smee
Radio One --> Exliontamer

I put mine in the mail yesterday. I'm sorry it took me so long. I felt so much shame that I included an extra cd.

Thank you Have Some Soma for such a great mix.

You know what's funny? If you read page 2, you'll see that Serah has already offered to make Stalker on Skates a mix out of pity for not getting one last time.
