TOPIC: Privates and Rich Creamy Paint Show July 1st
Posted  Monday, June 28, 2004 at 11:11 AM
Post 1 of 59
This just in-- The Privates and Rich Creamy Paint are playing thursday night at Exit/In with Aveo who are on the Barsuk label (Death Cab, Long Winters, Rilo Kiley, John Vanderslice, etc.). I've never heard them, but this is what the website had to say:
"Quote"
Aveo (pronounced "a-VAY-o") have been making powerful music since 2000. Their first record, 2001's bridge to the northern lights, was produced by Phil Ek (of Built to Spill and Modest Mouse fame). It captivated fans immediately, and propelled the band to become one of the hottest acts in town. Barsuk Records is pleased to be releasing the follow-up CD, battery (also produced by Phil Ek), an elegant blend of hope and devastation, a lush terrain of unconventional chord structures, stylish vocal melodies, and chiming guitars.

For all you Privates fans, keep in mind we'll be having fewer chances to see them in the future as Rollum reaches rock god status with the Features. Plus, how often do you get to see Keith play in two of his 67 bands in ONE NIGHT? If you haven't seen Rich Creamy Paint, prepare for pure power pop bliss.

Funny you should mention that. Once to promote a dance at my school, a rumor spread from somewhere that a major celebrity who had appeared on MTV and BET would be there. The rumors blossomed, and half the kids were hoping for Eminem and the other half for 50 cent. They turned out it droves, and no famous person was there.

Strangely, an adult showed up in a mask (it was Halloween) and they assumed it was the celebrity, so a group cornered him and took off his mask. It was someone's parent.

I don't understand. Are you inviting Rollum, Keith, Dave, and Ryan to some sort of performance of your cousin's? Do you think they'll have time with their big show and everything?

Two good sets. I hadn't seen Rich Creamy Paint in 5 years, and I was happy with what I saw. I'll see 'em again, in less than 5 years hopefully. The girl in that band looks like Miss9's sister. She was wearing pants and a skirt.

The Privates were great. I love the how the percentage of feedback made per song has gone up with the new songs, neuboy.

I must add that this was my favorite Privates set so far.

A very enjoyable weeknight show!

I assume you're talking about his shirt post-wardrobe change. It read "YOU... are destroying the record industry" or something like that. And it featured a big pointing fist.

I could read the words, but I couldn't figure out what the picture was. I kept thinking it was a Norelco electric razor with three rotating heads.

I love Keith dearly, but I think it's kinda lame that I'm talking about his shirt. So I'll stop now.

The last time I beat 10 times in a row, it certainly wasn't hard. Sore, but not hard.

There should be an "it" after that beat.

As for Sigur Ros and sex, personal experience leads me to believe that it must be good music to fake an orgasm to.

I'd venture to say changing MP's is more inappropriate, or perhaps more akward.

I think breaks in the action are perfectly fine-- especially if you have roommates and the music is serving the dual purpose of drowning out your own noises. Even if there's no one else in the house, it still feels a little awkward not to have any other noises in the room.

I will occasionally set a 3 disc rotation in advance, but I was recently called out on it. A chick hates to think you've been planning ahead like that. I guess it makes them feel easy or something. And it makes you look a bit creepy (which I won't deny). I've also been called out for leaving an Elliott Smith CD on rotation like 4 or 5 times.

(Damn you and your disclaimer!)

I don't think I would be offended...in fact, it might be distracting to not have something nice playing after the first disc is over. It's never happened to me, though. I don't think I've ever made out (that's so fun to say) with anyone who thought that far ahead. I like the spontaneous types.

Definitely. Making out is fun. Don't be so serious about it. If you have to take a break to change a CD, get some water, or stretch, that's fine. You're (probably) not making a high-quality erotic movie so everything doesn't have to be all serious. Enjoy it.
