Set was as follows, order may be a bit off:

Mosis Ptosis
Million Ways to Sing the Blues
See You Thru
Walk You Home
TWIMTB
Leave It All Behind
Me & the Skirts
Exhibit A
Thursday

The Jump crowd seemed mostly impressed- they were into the clap-alongs, etc. My brother, a former virgin, was blown away, especially by Rollum's egg-free drumming. I think it was a good group of songs to play, especially the last 4 in the order they were played. It was my first time hearing Mosis Ptosis (!), and I liked it a lot. I don't love it as an opener, though. The Beginning or Circus will never be topped for that position. The show was great, but makes me yearn for a real Features show. Main complaint was that I couldn't hear Parrish much at all. Main heart-breaking moment was when Exhibit A was introduced as the name of the album to be released this fall. Have we already bitched about that here? How many more years must I wait?

I am unaware of any bitching about such a thing. I was still holding out for a summer release and was unaware (though not too surprised) of the fall release.

This sucks...royally. I am ready for the album... now!

Oh yeah, here'sa place where Jump fans might post their thoughts on the Features. Let's just say up front that Features & Jump fans may be coming from different musical places, but that doesn't mean they can't overlap or at least peacefully co-exist. That said, I've enjoyed a JLC show before, but after seeing the Features, I left halfway through the Jump set just because...they weren't the Features.

i'm glad that "the features" were somewhat appreciated. it's weird to read posts on a messageboard where the people are so nice (not saying that i prefer it). even their dislike was wrapped in compliments.

If I was seeing them for the first time and they opened with "Mosis Ptosis," I'm not sure I'd get over it for the rest of a set.

Is that bad or good?

This set looks like an amazingly good introduction to the Features. I would have switched TWIMTB with Mosis Ptosis, but it's otherwise SOLID!

Bad. It would be at that point that the little voice in my head would say, "Hey Ya, this sucks. Let's go to sleep."

I agree, and I don't even think the song sucks. It has a certain charm, but it would not have that charm for me if it was my first exposure to a band. I would think they were punk-y or something. It's just not representative.

here is a fantastic review i found:

"Then there was the horrible warmup band "Feature." Does anybody actually like them? They just look so dirty and scummy that it is scary, not to mention I just wasn't feeling their music. I have never been so afraid of being bled on/spit on in my life. Yes, I said bled on! The lead singer had cut his finger and it was spraying blood all over his guitar! Did anybody else notice this insanity? It looked like something he did a lot because there was dried blood all under the strings too. That's just sick."

..."warmup" band??? what the hell is a "warmup" band??? and who the hell are "Feature???" Dumb bitch.

by the way, i found it here: opium2

if she had paid as much attention to the crowd as she did matt's crusty guitar strings, she would have realized that people actually did like them. I hear they had a good response last night. Oh well, the follow-up posts to her comment are nice.

While I'm definitely no super huge hardcore features fan, I must say I've loved them from a distance for a long time. I was so so happy when I found out they were opening for jump and nearly wet myself when I got to Guster last week to find they were opening there too.

Please don't think poorly of the entire jump group because of some shitty people who come in with preconceived notions about what an opener is supposed to be. I seriously cannot fathom how fans of one of the most eclectic bands of our time cannot wrap their heads around another genre for 45 minutes.

I know a lot of kids who would have bought the ep if jump's cd wasn't brand new. Hopefully they'll remember it and get it elsewhere.

As for the awful response at guster, believe me I wanted to punch every stupid fratboy in attendance. Man it pisses me off to no end when opening bands get no respect because of suv driving, little dicked boys wasting their parents money at college.

In closing, I'm really sorry you guys are having to deal with bullshit. I totally know how it feels to be on the receiving end. I have yet to be disapointed with the features and look forward to the album whenever it's decided to be released.

~rachel

ps: the comment about matt and company being dirty was the most hilarious thing on the planet. For your enjoyment I submit a nasty jump picture from 1997.

matt bivins metrosexual or matt bivins hi I have a mullet. also notice evan's pink hair and pigtails and ward's overall ugliness. ah memories. jay also had some grody pigtails, but those pictures are crappy. taken from a documentary featuring hootie and athenaeum. overalls are super super sexy.

Welcome Racharoo! You are an excellent poster. Every comment I have read of yours has been terrific. I realize not everyone is going to like the Features, but there is no need for someone to call them dirty and scummy. Especially when they have a similar look to Jump with the facial hair and western shirts and well...I just can't figure out what is dirty or scummy about either band. They sweat lots on stage, but they shower before and after! smile.gif
I also realize it is tough to be an opening act-I feel really bad that I usually miss the openers and now I have a new respect for them since the Features are playing that role.
Anyways, thanks for venturing over and posting here. I apologize for making fun of that girl, but her comments were quite funny and you just don't mess with my boys!!!

Excellent point! As a whole, I don't feel Features fans have the right to be angry that Jump fans are trashing our boys. As long as it's constructive criticism (and not comments on their image), we should respect their opnions.

Now if they want to come HERE and trash the almighty Features, there'll be hell to pay!

Ugh, please don't do that. I am a Jump fan and a member at the Opium board as well. PLease don't let one poster over there who pissed you off be a reason to start up trouble in thw whole Jump Community board. I think if you read the whole thread over there, their were enough Jump fans who fired back and put the girl in her place. Again, please don't judge the whole Jump community based on the ignorance of a few. There are a lot of people like me, who after seeing The Features are now Features fans as well. Lets all be welcoming of each other. Please?

Ah, ok. Well, I agree with what was siad about people coming on here to talk bad about the band. I don't think any Jump fans would do that, atleast I hope not. But yeah, you don't come onto a bands board just talk bad about them. If you don't like the music, why bother going to their site. Thats never made sense to me. On a different note, I was wondering if you can get any of their stuff live off the net. I haeard several songs last night that are not on the EP. Can anyone point me towards where I can get more of their music? Thanks

Contact any of us on there and someone can hook you up. Also, there's a highly-anticipated full-length album coming out (supposedly) this fall.
